Cleveland Guardians (2022 AL Central Champs)

Guardians scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th despite striking out 4 times. The Tigers' pitcher struck out the first three batters in the inning, but a wild pitch on strike three allowed the third batter to reach first base. The the Guardians got six hits and a walk before ending the inning with their fourth strike out (Andres Gimenez, for the second time in the inning). The Guardians won the game 8 to 4.

Big six game West Coast swing starting tonight with two games against San Diego and four against Seattle.

Team hasn't played since Saturday but now has a two game lead over the Twins and three games over the White Sox. Should be a fun race over the next month!

I'd take a split on this west coast swing.

They won last night and MIN/CWS both lost. So its 3 games now. It helps the Twins are @ Houston at the moment (hopefully they get swept)

They still have to play the Twins 8 times (and White Sox 4) so those will all be massive games.

Obviously all the games are important but 3 out of 4 with Seattle would be nice since they're an "in the wild card mix" team.

Tough loss last night. Classe finally had a meltdown in the 9th. Woulda been nice to hang on since Minnesota got swept in a DH by the Yankees.

Clase’s blown save snapped a run of 25 consecutive converted save opportunities, the longest active run in the majors and the longest streak by a Cleveland pitcher since Jose Mesa converted 38 straight saves in 1995.

Things get real starting tomorrow. 3 @ Minnesota. 27 games left. Still amazing they are even in this position but it's going to be tough to hold the lead unless they pick it back up and get out of this slump theyve been in.

Hope they can get out of their offensive funk. Still have everything in front of them for the taking. Let's see how these last few weeks go. Regardless, I think they've definitely exceeded the expectations most had for them this season.

They seem due to get out of it, if they do it will come at the exact right time.
