Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

were these the same league execs that were saying it was a foregone conclusion that love was going to sign outright with LA or Boston?

i'm more intrigued with the idea that sacramento is trying to dump rudy gay to clear space to sign rondo, and brendan haywood's non-guaranteed deal can make that happen.

Thompson is an offensive black hole. Yeah he can rebound but so can Love. Oh yeah...and Love is an offensive threat from anywhere on the court...
If anyone gets traded its Thompson. His only special ability is effort rebounding. Not even worth 15M a year.

I think a sign-and-trade for Thompson is the smart move (too many bodies at PF, and he's by far the worst offensively), but I agree that a Love sign-and-trade is looking more likely. No way does Thompson move. I'm not sure who Love could possibly go to, though. Unless the Lakers wanted to unload their first round pick, but even then I'm not seeing an additional piece on LA's roster that Cleveland would want. Jeremy Lin would be a nice backup point guard, but not at 8.5 million per year.

I'd put my money on the whole team staying together this year. I just hope JR Smith doesn't get overpaid.

That's LeBald's boy. He ain't going anywhere.

yeah I forgot..know what they say, sometimes it aint what you know but who you know.
Lebron also blew Miami's pick on shabazz napier, im thinking his judge of talent skills are not so good.

Looks like Demarcus Cousins could be traded, any thoughts on making that trade with Love?
It would take Love back to Cali and save the Cavs a bit in Cap space, if its possible.

Never happen. Cousins is a freaking malcontent. Nice stats, but he's not exactly a "team player."

I've read plenty to support the point that the Cavs CAN'T do any sign & trades with their current cap situation. That's what makes me very leery of this report.

I agree with the points on here about Thompson being very limited offensively, but I also think he could possibly explode in a Jimmy Butler fashion. He's known to work extremely hard, and I saw some glimpses in game 6 of the finals. And, he's only 24.

Maybe he could become a 12ppg scorer, but no way will he ever be close to as good as Butler is. On either side of the ball.

It's extremely unlikely, but word is Cleveland is a possible landing destination for Wade if things go way south in Miami. He would be a great sixth man for the Cavs. He could play 20 minutes per game and solve all their scoring problems when Kyrie and LeBron are sitting.

I'm not comparing him to Butler as a player, but hopefully as a guy who can show a huge improvement through hard work. I don't think anyone saw Butler becoming the player he is today either.

I've seen more on the Cavs sign & trade possibilities. I guess they can do a S&T for draft picks, but they can't receive a player.

If that's so, an S&T to the Lakers for their pick this year and future picks? Love gets to LA and the Cavs get a high pick to get Russell? I say BS on this because I just don't see it happening. Wouldn't be the first time the Cavs did business with the Lakers though.

Not going to happen. If the Lakers have the cap space to sign Love to a one year max deal why would he want a sign and trade to give up future Lakers assets and make the team worse? If he was going to bolt I doubt he would want them to miss out on the only high draft pick they've had over the past decade+. I'm taking Love at his word until he proves otherwise. If the Cavs bring everyone back and sign a couple good role players the Cavs are the title favorite next year.

If Love's ultimate goal is to play for the Lakers their best bet is to get Kobe to retire. Make good draft picks over the next few years and then walk into a situation similar to Lebron with the Cavs. The best move for him, the Cavs, and the Lakers would be to play this year on a 1 year max deal, sign a 5 year max deal with the Cavs next year and then get traded to the Lakers for a young player and picks in 3-4 years so he can finish his career surrounded by good young players.

they can do sign and trades, there's just some sort of limitations on what they can take back in salary due to their cap situation, but they can in fact do sign and trades.
