Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I don't watch any NBA other than highlights when somebody does something insane.....like pretty much half the time for Curry. He seems incredibly likable. How can you not stand him?

That cocky, mouthguard chewing bullshit drives me insane. After they won a title last year against LeBron James and a group of bench players they started to act like they were the best team in the history of the sport. This year they break the regular season wins record (which was undeniably impressive), but they should have missed the Finals. I just don't buy into the hype.

I'm also convinced that Curry's not the best player in basketball. He's a mediocre defender and a huge benefactor of illegal screens and touch fouls around the rim (and away from it). The 3-point foul that sealed the game yesterday never would've been called if LeBron had the ball. Curry is a better shooter and ball handler than LeBron, but LeBron has him beaten in literally every other facet.

And we'll have surefire proof about whether the NBA is fixed in this series. Green will grab LeBron by the neck and throw him to the ground at least once before halftime in game 1. If Green's not suspended for the following game then we know it's fixed.

Nice article about why the team is playing more like a team:

http://www.scout.com/nba/cavaliers/story/1673842-did-frye-and-rj-change-the-cavaliers

He melted icy interactions with his warm demeanor and helped the Cavaliers to turn a cold shoulder to the ‘cliques’ that became custom.

“Channing’s that new kid in school that doesn’t know that there’s cliques and he just sits at the table with everyone,” Frye said. “He puts random people on text chains. All of a sudden I was just on a text chain with Bron, Kev and Champ. You’re just like, ‘Why did you….?’ He’s like, ‘I don’t know, you guys are the ones I wanted to talk to.’”

“All of a sudden the four of us are texting through a game.”

As the regular season came to an end, Frye’s antics only continued to help Cleveland come closer together.

Doesn't Green have a couple ways get suspended automatically? Total technicals and flagrant points? Two techs or one flagrant I think he sits. Some sources indicate they're reviewing a play with Adams in game 7, I'm sure it's nothing.

I'm still waiting for the first fan in the history of the internet to use an example of something positive happening for the team they're rooting for as proof that a league is fixed. :tinfoil:

Just had a talk with a co-worker who follows basketball fairly regularly, and it immediately went to whether or not the whole fucking thing is fixed. I remember someone here posting when it was 2-2 in both conference final series that there's no way the NBA would allow an OKC-Toronto final. My co-worker said he noticed that during yesterday's game that even when GS went down 13 points, they were (according to him) still laughing and joking around on their bench as if they knew the game was in the bag regardless. Then of course the apparent tweet/post on the NBA web/Twitter site before Game 7 showing GS already in the finals. As we talked some more, I figure that if it is rigged in some way, it's obviously for money/ratings, and that it would probably be the league's best interest to have the Cavs win it. And if that's the case, it would be a 6- or 7-game series, with the likeliest scenario being the Cavs winning at home in Game 6. So, going with that, I'll make a semi-prediction that the finals will play out like this:

Game 1: Cavs win in a semi-convincing fashion to steal home court
Game 2: GS wins a close one to tie it up
Game 3: Cavs win in a blow out
Game 4: Cavs win a close one to go up 3-1
Game 5: GS wins fairly big, maybe even a blow out, to get everyone thinking that GS might make another comeback from being down 3-1
Game 6: Cavs win the title in a game that's close up through the late third or early fourth quarters but with the Cavs pulling away late to win by 8-10 points

I love this kind of stuff. It never fails that the conspiracy theories underestimate how many people would need to be "in on it", and what it would it take to keep every single one of them quiet forever. After all, it's not like the person who blew the whistle on the NBA "fixing" the finals would be an instant celebrity and paid a fortune to tell their story or anything.

So not only would both teams need to play their roles - I'm sure the Warriors would love to tank the finals after setting the league wins record this season - the officials would clearly have to do their jobs (and risk going to prison). So tell me, how does one bribe millionaire athletes? The only thing their money can't buy them is a championship ring. Do the TV networks - who paid a fuckload of money for broadcast rights - get to decide who wins? Or does Nike get to "just do it"? Hell, they paid Durant $300 million and just watched his team choke away a 3-1 lead. Ouch.

Milli more or less just did that... predicting Cleveland cuz its fixed.
Anyway, every fan likes to think it's their team against the world though - esp when they go all the way. Pats fans actually think they're the victim for rampant cheating.
It is what it is.

Prediction time: This is it, Cleveland.

Draymond Green will be Draymond Green, and the league won't rescue him this time. He's done too much, and they took the heat last series for overturning what should've been a suspension. He'll miss a game because of his stupidity, and it will be one of the reasons the Cavs win the series. The bigger reason will be the Cavs having a full bench this time.

I say Warriors in 5 or Cavs in 6, I don't think this series makes it to Game 7. If the Cavs can steal game 1 or 2, I think they can close it out at home. But, Curry and Thompson are going to get every call, especially out there, and JR has a very bad habit of fouling 3 point shooters. My heart says Cavs in 6, but my brain says Warriors in 5.
