Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Cavs pretty much just showed up for half the game last night and still easily beat the Sixers. Okafor looks like the real deal if they could find a good PG, but the rest of the NBA will probably troll them again this year and draft the best PG before they get to pick so they are left with another big. Cavs seemed to be in a big of a funk until they put James Jones in to start nailing 3's. Just shows the only guy currently on the bench that probably isn't part of the rotation is Harris. I've come the the realization that Cunningham is Shump without a shot. He's a good guy to have out there to D it up since he gives effort and has great athleticism, but you know nothing is going to happen when the ball is in his hands. If everyone gets back healthy I doubt they keep him once contracts are guaranteed.

I like the comparison of this team to the Deathstar in Return of the Jedi. It might not be completely finished, but the weapons systems are fully operational.

Hopefully a furry little bear/monkey like olynyk doesn't end up thwarting the cavs plans like ewoks in return of the Jedi.

I'm debating on Cunningham vs Harris... do we need another maybe-can-hit-a-3 or a decent defender with exceptional quickness
I like Harris.. but not sure he's ever really impressed me
Jones can do everything Harris can and better... since neither can defend a chair

If everyone is healthy I don't think you really need either. Harris is guaranteed so they would have to find someone to trade for him. They could probably trade him to a team like the Sixers for a conditional 2nd rounder with enough cash to cover his salary and get out of paying the tax for him. If Cunningham can be a lock down defender off the bench he is probably more valuable at the end of the roster than Harris. I think he's halfway decent with the ball in his hands and has some ability around the hoop. He could actually be a good rotation player if he could develop a spot up 3. Looking back to the Finals I think Cunningham would have seen some minutes to give Delly a blow and keep him closer to 30 minutes a game. It would have major offensive issues, but the defense from a lineup of Delly, Cunningham, Shump, Lebron, and TT would be something to see.

Looks like the Cavs have the best points against number in the East right now, which is impressive given that they should be a better offensive team than defensive. If they can maintain good defense and get everyone healthy this could be a special season.

Good game today especially with the Browns having already lost this weekend to the Bengals on Thursday.

I was out and about today this afternoon. Enjoying the semi off week for football, at least during daylight hours. Never saw so many leaves all at once. With no Buckeyes, Browns, or Bengals on in the afternoon this weekend, Ohio did a good job on our lawns. Was it #buttsex4bielema good, no, but good job Ohio.

And then I see LeBron check back in and just control the game on offense and then take a hard charge on defense.

This guy is just fucking good.

Any time the game is close and Lebron isn't the leading scorer going into the 4th be afraid. I feel that the Cavs are good enough that he is willing to coast until the game is on the line. Most nights that will be enough, but nights like this he has plenty of energy to turn it on and make sure they win the game.

Yea Mo was so good it is hard to believe he isn't starting when Kyrie comes back.

I do think Shump will start and I got to think Mo Williams is your NBA 2016 6th man of the year. And if he isn't Richard Jefferson is.

Fantastic depth on this team in theory when healthy.

Lebron had one of those classic superstar games where he could do no wrong, and even if he did, it wouldn't matter as he would make up for it.

They erased an 8 or 9 point deficit in like 2 - 3 minutes of game time it seemed like as Lebron went apeshit.

Fun game to watch.

Anyone else get the feeling that the only 2 games that matter this season will be against the Warriors? Cavs just need to get healthy and stay healthy. People are worried about who gets what minutes once Kyrie and Shump are back, but hopefully those additions make them good enough that they can limit everyone to <30 minutes a game and still dominate. Blatt just needs to figure out a rotation keeping 2-3 of Lebron, Love, Kyrie, and Mo on the floor at all times. Given the small ball trend I wouldn't be surprised to see Lebron play more 4 the second half of the season to backup Love so Shump, JR, or RJ can get some extra minutes at the 3. My big question is can Love guard Draymond Green in a small ball lineup? If so they should be able to give the Warriors fits with Kyrie, Shump, Lebron, Love, and one of Mo/RJ/JR/Delly. Force them to play a center so that we have to use Mozzy or TT.

Barring some serious injuries the Warriors are the only team in the way of a title, that seems like an accurate assumption to me.

Sure are pulling games out of their ass early. I certainly think the GS games are the most important, but delivering a few beat downs to other EC "contenders" will also be important to set the tone for the playoffs.
