Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

The two premier big men in the draft will be gone by the time the Cavs draft. Casspi, is a very good bench player, but not an NBA starter on a good team. Being the master of the understatement, we also could use a shooting guard.

If nothing changes, the Cavs will have a "decent" first round pick and two "decent" second round picks. I'm hoping they draft an above average forward, and an above average shooting guard. Hopefully, they can do well with more than one of the picks.

At this point, I would want to keep Session, and sign him long term. I also would like to keep Andy. It would be nice to have a front line good enough that Andy is the first big man off the bench.

Jamison I'm hoping we can trade to a team looking to cut long term salary.
In other words, they trade us a good younger player with an outrageous contract for Jamison who has an expiring contract. If a title contender offered us their late first round pick, I'd hop at that as well.

sessions is going to go somewhere that he can be the starter. he's going to try and cash in. it's really not worth it to the cavs to pay him what he's going to want to be a backup pg. if they can get a 1st for him, they should really do so.

andy's really got a friendly contract for what he provides. his only issue is constant injuries. i doubt any nba team would give cleveland the necessary compensation for AV is worth.

As for the draft, cleveland needs a legit wing player, whether at the 2 or 3. harrison barnes is out of reach without a lottery miracle. the cavs are likely going to have to take someone like brad beal, whose draft stock is going to be a little lower because of the clowns he plays with at UF. the cavs could still get lucky and get someone like michael kid gilcrest.

cavs are going to be desperate for a center and a shooting guard...if we trade sessions, which is most likely, then we need another guard who can create shots to go along with kyrie...gibson, when healthy, can be a good spot up shooter...our situation at center is very bad...Erdin has the most upside but he will not get us anywhere...i loved samardo samuels but he is deffinitly not a center...and byron scott has even talked recently of cutting him

Center of attention The Cavs have three healthy centers on the roster ? Semih Erden, Samardo Samuels and Ryan Hollins ? and Scott has been upset with the effort level from two of them. Those aren?t very good percentages.
Scott has benched and criticized Erden this season for not giving full effort in games, and now he?s doing it with Samuels. Asked what is keeping him out of the lineup, Scott responded bluntly ?energy and effort. It?s that simple.?
Samuels had a productive rookie season at power forward after going undrafted, but is struggling miserably with a change to center in his second year. Scott talked with Samuels earlier this week and told him his chances are running out.
?Opportunities are not going to keep coming,? Scott said in a clear sign he?s growing impatient. ?Pretty soon, that well is going to dry up.?
Scott said he has taken everything away from Samuels except his uniform.
?That?s the last step,? Scott said.

basically wherever we land with our first pick we should take best available at those 2 positions

I'd love to land MKG, but he'll be gone by 7 or 8.

I'd also be happy with either Beal or Lamb, one of which will probably
be available with their first pick.

Shooters.Are.Needed!!!!!

Too much buzz lately about teams wanting Sessions to start as their
pg. Either way, he won't be around next season.

Like someone said earlier, if one of the early second rounders can stick
I'd be happy, even if it's a bench player.

i don't see the cavs using both 2nds this year, especially if they trade sessions and/or jamison for picks. that would mean they would bring in 4 rookies to camp. that's pretty unlikely. 3 would be a stretch. i could see them dealing one of those 2nds to a team like dallas, or okc or the bulls for a late 1st in 2013.

I'd prefer that the Cavs look at Orlando Brown's baby boy - Orlando Brown (OT Duluth GA - class of 2014).. He's already 6'10 and 360 .. he could stop a lot of folks from coming down the lane.. and pretty sure not even Blake Griffen is movin him out of the middle... wonder what size he'll be when he grows up?

He wouldn't be a good lineman... cuz what QB is gonna be able to see over a 7 ft 4 OT when he's in college.. his size, spikes and a helmet... you won't even be able to see the scoreboard let alone a WR

the cavs might think about throwing a max deal at brook lopez this offseason. one of two things will happen. new jersey will either renounce his rights as a RFA so they can get under the cap enough to sign howard to a max deal, or hold his rights and have to match a max deal for him, which they won't likely do with Williams needing a max deal and probably walking after next season.

lopez isn't as good a rebounder as he should be. but, the way scott requires his bigs to be, he'll definitely improve. hell, even antawn is more aggressive on the boards this year. but lopez not being a great rebounder would be negated by tristan thompson playing the 4 with him. AV could be your 6th man/high energy guy and would work great off the bench with alonzo gee in the 2nd unit.

i wouldnt mind that...as u said lopez is a terrible rebounder which is just unreal considering he is 7 foot...verajao would average 20 rebounds a game like humphries does now...what he lacks on rebounding he makes up for with scoring...if dwight howard is traded to NJ then lopez will certainly be going to orlando...if not then i wouldnt mind seeing this move in the offseason...2 other RFA centers are Hibbert and Javal McGee...i would prefer Hibbert but McGee has more upside if he can just get his head screwed on straight...we may just have to look at the draft tho...besides davis and drummond, Zeller is the next best option at Center imo

What do you think will happen in the next two weeks?

Every game he misses helps us lose, but more importantly, it showcases Ramon Sessions. Missing 3 games for a slight concussion was beyond extreme.

The cold/flu yesterday was another opportunity to sit on the bench. When the kid gets on the court he plays his ass off and thats what you want. You can't tell him to tank or play any less than he's capable of. It hurts the development and creates awful habits...see the Wizards.

But he seems willing to ride the bench at the right times for the better of the organization. He understands what they're trying to accomplish this year. I appreciate that.
