Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Kyrie Irving is a once in a lifetime offensive player. His drives to the rim are truly unbelievable. Half the time it looks like he's defying physics to get the ball in the net. Great effort from him (including two extremely difficult 3 pointers) to send the game to OT and get the win.

I was frustrated with Blatt again, not sure why Mosgov and Love were on the bench to start OT. I know Barkley was arguing that Love was cold, but he wound up coming in later in OT anyway. There's nothing Tristan Thompson can do that Love can't do as well or better. I like Thompson, but there's no excuse for him out on the floor in crunch time instead of one of the best players in the NBA. Winning solves a lot of things, but star NBA players do not want to watch the final minutes of a game on the bench. He'll be out of town unless Blatt makes him a valuable piece of this puzzle.

Too bad I had to go to bed at halftime. From what I saw last nights game seemed to be a "well oiled" Spurs team that wanted to knock off one of the top teams in the East so getting the win was big even if Kyrie had to go into Superman mode to do it. I thought the same thing at halftime of the game he scored 55 earlier in the season, but when I turned off the tv I said Kyrie already has 20 hopefully someone else can pick them up in the second half. Guess they didn't have to.

One point I read about why Thompson was in the game rather than Mozzy and Love is that he is quick enough it allowed them to switch all screens. To be effective Love really needs to be on the floor with Mozzy and doesn't really have the skillset to play a small 5 or switch onto a guy like Parker. A small lineup of Kyrie, Shump, Lebron, TT, and someone else that can 3&D is pretty good defensively. Love can be a very good player, but on this team he can be a mismatch for the other team in some lineups.

Love played Duncan really well in OT. I haven't watched enough of him in his career to really know much about him as a defensive presence, but he held his own in that period.

Spurs are sub .500 vs top teams in the NBA this season, they said. Not that that matters once the playoffs start.

Some of the shots Irvin and Lebron were making during OT were just sick. Step back three pointers looked as effortless as free throws. It was really a sight to behold. Glad I flipped the game on after Supertroopers was over!

I don't think it's possible, but the Cavs really need the Pacers to get up to the 5th seed in the playoffs. I don't think they'll drop to 8th. IMO the best case is:

1.Hawks
2.Cavs
3.Raptors
4.Bulls
5.Pacers
6.Wizards
7.Bucks
8.Heat

As long as the Cavs don't have to play the Pacers in the first round I'll be ok, but it would be great if the Pacers and Bulls had to face off in the first round either as 4-5 or 3-6.
