Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

It's the nba, so I only follow with a passing interest...but where the hell did the Hawks come from? I was just glancing at the standings and saw they have a 5 game lead in the east. WTF?

Same situation for me... also found it interesting that, right now, I would bet both Miami and Brooklyn do not make the playoffs with the way Charlotte and Detroit are playing. This is in the Eastern Conference where you can basically get in the playoffs just for participating...

I don't think playing Lebron at PF would be a good idea. I don't think he likes backing down defenders and it would wear down his body.
I think the Cavs need to protect Lebron and his amount of minutes as much as they can at this point.
I don't like seeing Lebron banging bodies in the paint. That's the only reason I still like having Love over Wiggins.

I also think that is why Lebron wanted this team to trade for Love. Lebron can play every position, but not for the entire year.
We would have had to start Thompson at PF, and that's a lot of low BB IQ on the floor.

I still have hope that Love will find a groove after these guys gel more. The game will slow down in the playoffs and points will be hard to get.
Love at least needs to be more efficient offensively. 17-9 is basically what Bosh was averaging during the title runs with Lebron.
But Bosh is better defensively and more consistent offensively.
I would still rate Love as a Top-5 PF. Behind Davis, Aldridge, Bosh and possibly Griffin.

Cavs look to be getting in a good grove with the new additions. Still need a better backup PG, but they just handled a team that should make the playoffs in the west.

Easy schedule coming up with only 2 good west teams and the Wizards over the next 13.

Another solid game with some sense of cohesion. LeBron was dominant, Kyrie is at another level, Mozgov's defense and rebounding is so consistent, and JR Smith is still on fire. Love still hits some big shots, just really need a plan for him. Dellavedova and Marion continue to collect paychecks for existing, and Miller for being on the bench (better than the alternative of letting him play). But overall, they look good right now and I actually enjoy watching them.

Offensively it seemed to be one of the worst shooting games that they've played in a while. Kyrie was on fire, but nobody else was really hitting (3-24 on triples outside of Kyrie). They were down early then went with a lineup of Delly, Shump, Lebron, Marion, and TT to bump the D up a level and get the lead. Once they took over they never looked back. If this is a grind it out kind of a win for the Cavs I feel pretty good about where this team is going. They have 4 guys that can take over a game and only 1 of them was hitting shots last night. Lebron can dominate even if his shot isn't falling, but if 2 of Kyrie, Love, and Smith can be on I don't think many teams can beat them. Tonight's game against the Blazers will be a true test. Still need a backup PG so Kyrie doesn't have to play 40+ every night. One added bonus of the trades is having enough depth that Lebron can get more rest.

The closest we have to a PG is LeBron
We play two shooting guards.. Irving is not a traditional PG IMO

Kyrie isn't a true PG, but he has a great handle on the ball so he and Lebron can both get the ball up the floor. After they get in the half court it doesn't really matter who initiates the offense. If Kyrie is on fire like he was last night let Lebron create open space and find the right guy or take it to the hole. If Kyrie isn't on fire he can run the offense and find the open guy. The problem is their 2 best players are the only 2 on the team that are capable of playing the point. They need a bench guy that is a true PG for when Kyrie and Lebron are sitting. In the playoffs Kyrie, Shump, Lebron, Love, Mozzy, TT, Smith, and Marion are as deep as they need to go unless Miller or Jones catch on fire. If they need a lineup with better D they can go with Delly as long as Lebron is on the floor. I wouldn't give up much to find a backup PG that will probably play 10-20 minutes a game.

Kyrie with 55 points tonight (including a team record 11 three pointers) as the Cavs beat the Blazers, 99-94, for their eighth win in a row. And Kyrie did it against his nemesis Damian Lillard.

Lebron sat out, but it didn't matter as Kyrie had a career high for points and the rest of the team did just enough.

LaMarcus Aldridge had 38 points and 11 boards for the Blazers.
