Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

I think we're no more than a few weeks away from Griffin making phone calls about Waiters. I really thought that he'd be smart enough to adjust his game to his new role, but he's playing like it's still 2013. We need Waiters to become a spot-up shooter when he's playing with the offense, and create his own shot/play PG when he's carrying the second team. Instead he's still forcing up 18 foot jump shots with two people in his face. I think Waiters could be gone as soon as January. I'm not sure what they'd do at the SG position. Ideally they'd be able to get a defensive wing player and a decent Center for Waiters and someone else. Maybe Thompson, because he plays no defense whatsoever. I know LeBron loves him, but that may not be the case if this team is 15-21 in a couple of months. If we do get rid of Waiters for a Center, they could try starting Dellevadova at PG and Kyrie at SG. Perimeter defense would be a joke though.

If the team totally falls apart and fails to rally in any way, I wouldn't be surprised to see Blatt gone and/or a move away from Kyrie for a more traditional PG before the trade deadline. Dan Gilbert has been growing on me in the last year or two, but there's no doubt he wants this team in the Finals this year.

Maybe Rondo for Kyrie? Boston wouldn't get a better deal.

Eh, it's all shit right now. But there is simply too much talent for them to not pull it together. I know it's Cleveland, and it's ingrained in us to expect disaster around every corner, but we're 4 games in with a totally rebuilt roster. All they need is a couple of wins to get that feeling and I think it'll come together. You never take too much from November, or even December in the NBA. I think things will start to come together once they come back to Cleveland. If the same shit is going on after 15-20 games, then we'll know there are serious issues. If Blatt can't get these guys together over the next few weeks to a month, I think it'll be pretty clear that's where the issue is. And I'm sure Griffin/Gilbert won't let it stew. Teams have made midseason coaching changes and went on runs. I'm not saying Blatt needs to be fired right now. Just that if he can't turn this around in a reasonable amount of time, that might be where they start.

The leftovers on this roster have been done a serious disservice over the past few years. Scott was a glorified playground coach, and Brown was a lame duck by last December. There's a lot of bad habits that need to be broken with Kyrie/Waiters/TT/etc. that have developed over the last 3-4 years. That, coupled with trying to mesh in so many pieces is complicating things. Not really surprising when you step back and look at it. Even LeBald said it's gonna "take time" in his stupid letter thing.

And queue the reports of a LeBron/Kyrie "Heated" discussion after the Portland game...

Scary thing... I think Kyrie might be the first to go. Dion is supposedly listening to what LeBron says and putting in extra time off the court. Now, he hasn't acted on it during a game. LeBron might like Dion... afterall we have heard reports of LeBron reaching out to Dion to look at tape and such. Where are the report of LeBron reaching out to Kyrie???

Nothing should happen til December at earliest unless things get real toxic. To see who buys in and give them a chance to change.

Now, first thing I thought of was a Rondo for Kyrie swap. Rondo brings the defense this team sorely needs. But the only problem with Rondo... he is a really NEEDS the ball in his hand to be worth anything on the offensive side of the ball. Is he the perfect guy to trade for?

Would it be better to trade for a lesser PG (guy can shoot 3s and play above average defense that doesn't need the ball in his hands) AND a front court guy.

I dont think it helps when teams are playing there 6th+ game... and the cavs just played what their 4th?

Cleveland being cleveland... over/under 40 games for Blatt...

btw how's the Wiggins looking (not asking to be an ass but just wondering since i dont really follow the NBA)?

Wiggins is playing better defense than the entire Cavs... his offense... blah... he is basically your struggling rookie player. But he did have 17 points last night on 7 for 12 shooting in his first game where he played extended minutes. But that was the only game he broke 10 points this season.

Love is basically playing better ball than any other Cav, so I'm glad we did trade Wiggins. Not like he would've seen the floor with Blatt's 7 man rotation anyway.

I'm not panicking yet, but losing to the Jazz is bad. The Cavs should be able to beat the Jazz with one or two members of the Big Three. With all three they should destroy them.

Nugget's twitter page yesterday was pretty good.

"See you and Dion Waters tomorrow!"

"Tristan Thompson will be there. Make sure you are too."

"Tomorrow night your Nuggets host Anderson Varejao's Cavs"

"The Nuggets hit the practice court today in preparation for tomorrow night's game against Shawn Marion and the Cavs"

The Cavs have looked great so far tonight. I know it's a depleted Nuggets team without their best player, but this is exactly what we need from Irving and Marion. Irving is acting as the distributor that I thought he'd become, and Marion is simply being "there" offensively. He takes the open 3 when it's there, he runs the floor and gets out in front of the defense. I wouldn't mind seeing he and Waiters at about 24 minutes a piece per night. Waiters needs to emulate what Marion has done tonight.

The effort on D has been much better so far. Best passing and play running I've seen out of them before. It helps the Nuggets have been chucking up a bunch of bad shots. The Cavs still aren't shooting as well as you'd like, but it hasn't mattered tonight.
