Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Mid. Small. Large. TV dollars. And then trickles down some to endorsement dollars to a few guys. So... Impacts baseball more than NFL... As well as fan "give a fuck" level. Which is why green bay isn't a small market for the NFL, and why Miami isn't for baseball either (even though their revenue sucks). Having said all that, in capped sports.. You get a lot of "all this things being equal.. " where actual first choice athlete in x dollar slots wife wants to be in los angeles ... Etc. Is what it is. Lebron could a gone to Utah if he wanted to. But, lacking a reason... He chose Cleveland. Could a picked NYC, etc etc too.

Houston and Dallas are huge markets. Cleveland, population and support wise is pretty much the definition of small market. It helps that we now have an owner willing to spend, but take away LeBronie again, and you aren't attracting anybody with options to Cleveland.

Actually, Cleveland is right about in the middle of the NBA pack in terms of market size.

Add Allen and I think they'll have enough guys in the locker room that know what it takes to win a title to keep all the young guys in line. I'd be surprised to see any articles about Kyrie/Dion issues this year.
I do not understand where they will get the money to sign Allen. Plus, I thought they were also looking for another big center. I do not know if they trade one of their #1 draft picks for next year if that frees up money but I thought they had used all of their cap space.

I'm sure they're in the market for another big defender on the bench, but it would have to be a minimum player or someone cheap enough that they could trade the Utah contracts for him. The good thing about being in their current position is that they can get guys to take significant pay cuts to play for the Cavs for a season.

Sources: Shawn Marion has agreed to a deal with the Cavs

Marion is clearly prioritizing a chance to win another championship over chasing a bigger payday, as the Cavs can only give him a one-year, $1.4 million deal that is the veteran's minimum.

Always known for his all-around, stat-stuffing game, Marion is one of four players ever to amass 17,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 1,500 steals and 1,000 blocks.
