Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Im not a fan of Gasol at this point...guy is still a beast when healthy, but that is the key word...healthy...and would he have the desire to actually play hard here in cleveland...Also you have to figure out how you are going to sign him and Deng in the offseason which is not happening
They would likely have to trade Andy, who has the same health issues but we know plays hard here when able. Signing in the offseason, yeah I don't know, they might move Deng to get him as well. Even so, it's a risky, risky move.

It figures, as soon as I write the Cavs off, they go out and win four in a row for the first time in four years.

The firing of Chris Grant certainly shook things up. But here's the question: Are the Cavs playing great because: (a) they want to win; (b) they are playing for their jobs; (c) they are trying to showcase their talents for a possible trade; or (d) it's just a fluke and they'll still end up in the draft lottery.

I think it is (e) Gilbert/Griffin told Kyrie & Dion they were not going to trade either of them, that they better grow up and learn how to play with each other. Hang out... get to know each other, have fun (Thus the NBA all-star weekend lovefest between the two)

The big question is how long will this last?

Also interesting that is seems like Deng & Jack are the parts they want to move. Hopefully they can get a serviceable SF out of these moves to replace Deng.

I just really hope they don't try to do something drastic. Get what you can for Deng and Jack and try not to trade anyone else unless it is a huge win type trade. Because really if I was a GM on another team I would try like hell to get Waiters for cents on the dollar. Hopefully the Cavs don't fall for it. If they want to trade Waiters... they can get more for him in the offseason.

With Dion geting hurt last night, I would be surprised if they traded Jack. This is really what they signed him for, it's a minor miracle Kyrie hasn't missed more games at this point in the season. Maybe with more playing time Jack's game will improve.

My guess is that Jack is gone. You make a good point about why they signed him, but I think they'd take the chance to get out from under his contract and try to find someone else to fill his role that fits the system better. At least it doesn't sound like Waiters is expected to miss much time.

That’s what makes Cleveland so interesting today. It’s 5-0 since firing Chris Grant, the team’s ex-GM, resuscitating postseason hopes that looked dead two weeks ago. Should that change its calculus as we approach the trade deadline? Should the Cavs keep their useful veterans, including Luol Deng, Anderson Varejao, and Jarrett Jack, instead of dealing them for salary relief or maybe even a future asset? What about Dion Waiters?
Small sample sizes are a dangerous thing, even in the hands of folks who should know better. It’s nice the Cavs are on a five-game winning streak, and they appear to have made some positive and substantive changes in that stretch. But the streak includes just one win over a team above .500, and that team, Memphis, was missing its two-way copilot in Mike Conley. The Cavs needed overtime to beat that Grizz team in Cleveland, and they barely staved off the Wizards in Washington in their previous win — the first of the streak. (That was a nice win, though. Several Cleveland players were battling an illness that spread through the team.)

A nice article breaking down the Cavs recent win streak and seeing some positive changes for the team. But also a word of caution about over-reacting to it.

Seeing some talks about Zeller as well. Sources are multiple but Cavfanatic.com is the best. Folks are on the ball over there. My thoughts are if Zeller DOES get traded, look for the Cavs to get another big before the day ends.

I liked it, makes us better, plus gives more flexibilty in any other moves that they may make today.

Hawes is the type of big you want with Kyrie and Dion he can play pick and pop, spreads the floor for them.

plus, it's starting to look like AV will be missing some extended time, and henry sims just isn't very good. but how about with their moves today, philly has like 7 2nd round picks in this upcoming draft.

Did they hire an NFL GM that thinks 2nd rounders are valuable? I'm sure they can make a few mil selling a handful of those picks this summer.

So, the scuttlebutt is that the Cavs are going to go hard after Love or Aldridge in the offseason in order to lure Lebron back to Cleveland. LBJ, Kyrie and Love? Any Cavs fan would love that.

The butthurt would have to just go away with the championship run.
