Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

If you need the gm to get fired for you to play with adequate effort each night, then your problems are deeper than him. I still contend that the cavs shouldn't be active buyers at the deadline.

Agreed, we will have to see how long this 'effort' lasts. Gilbert also spoke to the team after Grant was fired, it will be interesting if we ever find out what was said. I really hope it was a come to jesus type of speech and it might have finally clicked for the players?

The trade deadline will be interesting. Before this win streak it should have been a priority to trade Andy, now??? The last few games leading up to the trade deadline should be interesting. I just really hope they don't make a trade just to make a trade.

apparently Griffin had a little pow-wow with irving and waiters as well as addressing the entire team. for whatever reason, something clicked to make them start playing with some effort. i do doubt that it is sustainable.

Clearly this increased effort is due to the porn star effect

On the radio the day they played the first game of this streak, they played a clip of some porn star chick who is apparently a big Cavs fan, and she said "If they make the playoffs I'll b*ow the whole team and I'll bring a girlfriend". They've been attributing the winning streak top that

Motivation people, motivation.

So, with the deepest draft in a decade coming in June, does it really benefit them at all to start winning now? Part of the issue with this franchise is they have stockpiled high picks in some absolutely epically horrific drafts. Next year looks different, so why start winning now?

Because they're Cleveland?

considering how they've grossly underachieved and pull several defeats from the jaws of victory, their draft position is probably higher than it should be at this point already. there are already about 5 teams in total tank mode already that will do their best to lose the final 30 games. even with cleveland's best efforts, they won't be able to catch the bucks, philly, sacramento, or orlando. the lakers are going to pack it in as well at the deadline. even with cleveland's best tanking attempt they were going to have a tough time cracking the top 5 in this draft.
