Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

Cavs lose to Detroit.

Suns win.

Lakers win.

Tonight was a good night.

Let's hope for one more win from the Suns and the Cavs losing out, but that might be easier said than done with the Bobcats still on the schedule. That last game is going to be a battle to out tank each other. Gilbert might want to give Irving, Waiters, and Thompson a free pass to the Horseshoe the night before and move the fight back so they get to Charlotte an hour before tip. :p

So much for that Lakers pick.

With a 1 game lead and the tie breaker I think the Lakers only have to find a way to win 1 without Kobe. But after a tumultuous season and possible bleak playoff prospects without kobe it isn't inconceivable that the rest of the team just mails it in the last two games.

the kid from UNLV could whet my appetite for the Cavaliers I never knew much about him until I clicked his link on that draft board. Is a lot bigger than Porter and might be able to fill the same role.

He's an undersized PF in the NBA...pretty much in the mold of Michael Beasley. He can't laterally hang with NBA SF's on the perimeter...he'd get eaten up all day long.

I think Porter is a very safe pick. His ceiling isn't super-high but his floor is still at a 12 year starter at SF and an all around floorgame type player. Solid on ball and help defender, good enough mid-range game, and intelligent around the hoop. He just doesn't have that "wow" factor or elite level talent.

I think he'd fit about as well as anyone in the draft with Waiters and Kyrie because he doesn't need the ball to be effective. He's also an amazing character guy from all accounts. It's just one of those drafts where if the Cavs get the #2 - #4 pick anyone not named Nerlens Noel will feel a bit anti-climatic. On the other hand, if they can get lucky and hang onto that Lakers pick, it feels like a deep draft where they could get a very nice player at #16.

I'm pretty sure the Jazz have the tiebreaker so the Lakers need finish the same. Really need Utah to drop one to have a chance and the Lakers not to tank without Kobe.

Not sure where else to mention it so I'm just going to put it here.

Just noticed John Hollinger has been the VP of basketball operations for the Grizzlies since December of 2012. He was the only reason I ever went to ESPN.com (obviously I haven't been in a while if I just noticed it).

I've had two NBA writers that I followed religiously because I felt they had the perfect blend of advanced statistic and subjective writing: Hollinger and the 'CountTheBasket.com' guy. Sucks (and very interesting) that both have moved on to front office roles now. It always felt like it was a matter of time until Hollinger became too expensive and ESPN could no longer keep him.

Cavs now own the 3rd spot in the lottery!

That and we just need the Lakers to beat the team the Suns beat last night or the Jazz to lose to a team that is fighting for home court in the first round of the playoffs to get the Lakers pick.

Love to see the Cavs be able to move some picks to get 2 in the top 10. One more game before losing is no longer acceptable.

i don't know that cleveland is going to be able to bundle picks to move up very high in this draft. it is fairly probable that cleveland doesn't use those 2nd round picks. they may package them to move up for a 3rd 1st rounder, or trade them to a team in the back half of the draft for a 2014 first that's protected so that team won't have to deal with a guaranteed contract. a team like the knicks would be a good example.

im interested to see if Scott gets fired or not...i know i deffinitly defended some of his losses because of the players he had to work with, but after the cavs blew a few double digit losses its deffinitly apparent the players stopped caring and wanting to play for him...so basically i cant say i can blame management if they decide to go in a new direction

If they are going to make a change they need to do it after the season. This team must show improvement next year. There is no reason for a team with Irving, Thompson, Waiters, Zeller, Andy, another top 5 pick, and the #16 pick shouldn't make the playoffs next year. Keep Ellington, Livingston, Gee, and replace everyone else.

Regarding the Lakers pick: Memphis is one of the few teams left that has
something to play for. They need to win Wed. and hope the Clippers lose, in order to pass them for home court in the playoffs. The good thing for the Lakers is that Memphis has incentive to win, and that game starts at 8pm , meaning the Lakers will know if they need to win or not.

Also, that Lakers pick is currently at#18. Thanks to the East sucking ass, Milwaukee, Boston and Chicago could all finish behind the Lakers. Either way, picking 18 is much better than 30, if the Cavs were to get that pick.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Memphis can pass the Clippers, because the Clippers being division winners can drop to no lower than the 4 seed. Memphis could tie the Nuggets, but I think the Nuggets have the tie breaker. Like I said, I could be wrong.
