Cleveland Cavs (2016 NBA Champions)

all you have to do is look at waiters 6 turnovers, and luke ridnour's stat line to see why waiters got the hook. it was a teaching moment, plain and simple. if this team was competing for anything outside the number of ping pong balls in the lottery, then maybe this would be an issue.
Ridnour had almost all of his points in the 4th quarter...ya know, when Dion was sitting

Half the turnovers were because Zeller can't catch a basketball

Sorry but the "teaching a lesson" bull[Mark May] copout doesn't work here.

it's not a copout since scott's been doing it for nigh on two years now. he sat kyrie for an extended stretch against detroit, and he's done this with waiters more than once this year. hell, he started CJ Miles for weeks. this has been scott's MO since the cavs began the rebuilding process. apparently you haven't been paying attention.

Oh no, I have been. But usually he has a legitimate reason, like Kyrie or Dion not trying on defense. Last night was just bullshit and failure to realize that is just sad. Or maybe YOU haven't been paying attention.

waiters wasn't trying on defense. he let ridnour and shved do what they wanted when they wanted. he was lazy with the ball resulting in 6 turnovers. scott benched irving for the same thing about a week and a half ago. he took waiters out of the starting lineup earlier this year because of his poor attitude and inability to follow directions. anyone that thinks byron scott willingly plays luke walton and cj miles extended minutes because he's trying to win games needs a little dose of reality.

Yeah the scenarios aren't really comparable at all. Ridnour had 8 points before the 4th quarter. Shved had 10. Woopty doo. Zeller's inability to catch a ball isn't Waiters' fault.

But no, I don't think Byron plays Luke & Chuck Jumpers to win games. I think you're missing the point I've been making all along.

i'm not missing your point. your point simply doesn't have merit. zeller bobbled one good pass from waiters. the other one waiters' ricocheted off the bottom of the backboard. waiters didn't fight through screens and constantly allowed dribble penetration which put the interior defense in horrible spots all night. no, you simply see 6-6 shooting and ignore everything else. byron scott has done this very thing for 2 years running, including with the cavs superstar player. he did it to waiters early in the year, and it got good results. i fail to see why you can't grasp that.

I don't ignore everything else. You see 6 turnovers and 21 points from Ridnour and make incredibly poor assumptions. When Scott has done it in the past it was deserved. This time it wasn't.

You want to tank? Don't sit Dion for no fucking reason. There are plenty of other effective ways to tank that don't involve an unnecessary benching to a core player.

-Trade Speights for a pick
-Play Kevin Jones over Speights. Use the "doghouse" excuse
-Play Boobie instead of Livingston or Ellington
-Start Chuck Jumpers at SF over Gee

waiters was late getting back on D several times in transition, and let minny kill the cavs with pick and pops because he wouldn't fight through screens or switch like he was supposed to. you couple that with his inability to stop ridenour and shved from driving all night, and his carelessness with the ball, and you get a seat on the bench. i wonder if you actually watched the game.

as for the remainder of your post, miles can actually score. gee has been beyond putrid offensively for a large part of the year. the cavs might play boobie more if he wasn't injured all the time.

you also totally ignore the other pretty obvious part in that the cavs are likely showing certain guys since the trade deadline is approaching. if the cavs get a minimally protected 1st in 2014 for speights, he'll be long gone. if they can use walton and their cap space to offer salary relief for a 1st, he'll be gone.

once again, your argument just doesn't work.

His effort was no worse than anybody else on the perimeter, minus Gee. Minnesota shot like 80 fucking percent in the 4th quarter lol. You clearly looked at the box score and watched highlights, and either didn't pay attention to the game or didn't watch it.

Miles is terrible, but I honestly wouldn't care if he started over Gee. It would help the tank as we would have absolutely no perimeter defense.

As for showcasing some guys, now you are actually making some sense. As mentioned in my previous post I would like to see us move Speights for another pick. Or any of our bench players, for that matter.

yes, the perimeter defense was awful. but for some reason you aren't grasping the part where byron scott isn't trying to develop and send a message to cj miles or shaun livingston. when you can grasp that part, you'll understand better.
