Former Cavs beat writer Brian Windhorst writes that no final decision has been reached, but it seems like a sure thing. The move would clear the way for Kyrie Irving to take the point guard reins, and also clear minutes for Ramon Sessions. Bump Irving up your draft board and put him down as a candidate for Rookie of the Year.

2) Why dump Baron to amnesty ?? you have to pay him anyway... not like we're going to do anything in the FA market.. so why not at least keep him on the roster and maybe get some use of him

one step closer.....
to a top 5 lottery pick.
this will go on all year...i was happy with baron davis's attitude after getting traded from LAC last year when coming to cleveland...i was expecting a full blown meltdown...but now that he has a bulging disc in his back i can see this issue just lingering all year long, even if baron is being 100% truthful or not about it...might as well cut bait with him nowPDcavsinsider Reed, Boyer
Davis out indefinitely with bulging disc (L 2-3). This comes from second opinion
CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cavaliers have waived veteran point guard Baron Davis, using the NBA's new "amnesty clause" to clear space under the salary cap.
Davis, acquired in a trade last season from the Los Angeles Clippers, is now a free agent. He will be paid $28 million owed over the next two seasons. His release had been expected since training camp opened. The 32-year-old has not been able to practice because of a bulging back disc.
The injury had no impact on the Cavs' decision to release Davis. With Davis gone, coach Byron Scott can now turn his offense over to rookie Kyrie Irving, the No. 1 overall draft pick.
General manager Chris Grant has thanked Davis for his contributions to the team and called him an "absolute professional."
