The RBs have been garbage all camp. Johnson is hurt and West and Crowell have no idea what they are doing. You don't talk about signing Ray Rice publicly if there isn't a serious problem. Plus they had a rookie at LTReading today where the Browns are disappointed with their running backs. I was more disappointed with the offensive line last night. I mean with all the buildup that they had been getting since this Spring you would have thought they could have opened up some holes for the running backs and then maybe they would have looked a little bit better but probably not much.
I don't want to keep picking on Mike Patrick, but he makes Mowins sound like 1980s Pat SummeralMike Patrick Solomon Wilcox
Forget all the off-field baggage Ray Rice brings...did they not notice that he was a garbage RB the last time he played (660 yds, 3.1 ypc) and is now 2 years older? Basically, that would be like re-signing any of their own diarrhea cocktail of RBs they trotted out there from 2003-13 (minus one good year of Jamal Lewis and Peyton Hillis). I'm sure Montell Hardesty (or whatever his name was, I can't be bothered to look it up) is tanned, rested, and ready. Of course, this is the same front-office whose idea of upgrading the receiver corps was bringing in Dwayne Bowe's corpse and a mediocre former Buckeye, so who knows...
Hey! With Duke Johnson, they have THREE decent backups! But whenever 21st century Browns need a RB, count on them going to the geriatric remains of Baltimore...
This team still sucks, but overall I thought there was some more talent on the field. For once. Pity they blew it on both 2014 1st round picks.
Bademosi or whatever his name was looked completely lost out there. Named called a lot for all the wrong reasons.
I'm assuming Pryor and Duke are still injured? Those were the two I wanted to see. I never got the love-fest for Crowell and West last year... looked like decent backups maybe.
It's possible a year off helped him, but he looked old and slow in 2013, and was just mediocre in 2012. It's a topic that's been beaten into the ground, but the typical shelf-life for a "bell cow" type of RB in the NFL is only about 3-5 years. Rice has a lot of miles not just running the ball, but receiving as well...1809 touches over 6 seasons. That averages out to roughly 20 touches a game. That's a lot for a smallish/physical runner. I have serious doubts he'd be significant enough an upgrade over West/Crowell/Johnson that would make the shitstorm signing him remotely worthwhile. At best you hope he's a 10 carry a game guy that can grind out 3.5-4 yards a carry on average.Ray Rice still has years left and has been rested up. I think he has fresh legs and is an upgrade over anyone on this roster. That said, no. Dont bring him to Cleveland.
I will say, the all-white uniforms didn't look as awful as I expected. Still quite bad in an oh-so-MACish way, but not the total eyesore I was expecting. The helmets are pure Syracuse, though. Another garbage football team, so it's kinda fitting. All bets are off when they wear the Brown and Orange kits, though. That's gonna be humiliating.
I'd honestly be somewhat surprised if they did. And that's surprising to me, because I always expect them to look at a situation, and say "this is dumb", and then do it. Logically, though, I just don't see the benefit. Having said all of that, now you can expect them to announce his signing sometime this evening.Ray Rice is trash and if the Browns sign him I'm done with them.
Agreed. One thing they always got right was not tinkering too much with what was a classic uniform. Outside of some changes to striping/accents, and mixing in some alternate uniforms/combinations, the uniforms went largely unchanged throughout their existence. And I thought the last incarnation of their classic look was actually pretty sharp. They may have been shit on the field, but at least they fit in with organizations like the Packers, Bears, and Stillers in that they didn't mess with a classic uniform. It gave them an identity other than "shitty football team." Now they look like a bunch of college mid-major assholes. Only Seattle and Jacksonville are worse, IMO.Most NFL uniforms look terrible and could stand to look more like MAC uniforms. Cleveland's didn't used to be one of them though.
