Cleveland Browns (official thread of Masochism 2015)

Exactly. None of us would know how to act during a successful season.

Answer: Ignorantly

Edit: Not any of US necessarily here at BP, but your average Cleveland Browns fan.

The Browns got a taste of success during the first half of last season and it was already getting out of hand. You know, it was Cleveland fans seeing the Browns in or near first place while fully disregarding the Law of Cleveland Being Cleveland and forgetting how it would naturally come crashing down, spectacularly. A full season of success and you'll probably get something like the Baltimore riots again. In Baltimore, of course.

If they trade up to 2 for Mariota, it seriously might be the greatest thing ever. That would be 3 first round QBs in 4 years. ONLY the clowns could pull off a feat like that.

Hence why I think its going to happen. We take a 30 year old rookie, trash him within 2 years. Take Mr Foosball, the greatest thing since sliced bread - washed out in rehab in less than 12 months. Give up massive high picks for a system QB
with a style of play that doesn't translate to the NFL at all. In essence we'd be Cleveland and Washington in that scenario.

I'd say Weeden was trash when he got here. Same for Manziel. I don't see that in Mariota at all. Of course, Cleveland could fuck him up, I am holding no illusions about that.

This won't happen, but what would just top it would be Manziel going somewhere else and becoming an All-Pro. And then Mariota, after failing in Cleveland, doing the same.

Every time I reflect on being a Browns fan I want to drown myself in the Cuyahoga.

I see a system QB that needs just the right offense to be effective. Not unlike RG3. RG3 was fantastic as a rookie because they ran an offense that suited his skills and masked his deficiencies. Then he shredded his knee and they tried to make him a regular QB. Result? Disaster. See also: Kaepernick, Colin.

People always seem to say something to this effect as if it's something we've been burned by before. Why? I can't think of a single player from the New Browns that left that made me think, "Geez, I wish they still had that guy - everything would be different."

There's a reason these players get their name called by the Browns. They suck, each and every last one of them.

It's hard to think of more than a handful of new Browns that I'm glad they kept
