Dont forget its not like he was left with alot of talent on his new team to work with. he is basically rebuilding from scratch.

you would have a point, if the guys he hired didnt have backgrounds of causing trouble with other teams they were employed with. Banner was a known Ahole, but he was part of the group that owns the browns he basically hired himself. then Shanahan was a known crybaby-daddys boy in Washington, but Pettine got hired so late he was the best option left.
Haslam needs to hire more Farmer/Pettine types then Banner/Shanahans. Guys that just get sh*t done and dont worry about doing anything but their own job.

But that is the point. Ownership sucks and they aren't going to fire themselves. We are stuck with them and their decisions. They get stuck with last ditch efforts because we are a train wreck seemingly every year and our first options never want to come here. I agree we need guys who just worry about doing their job but when push comes to shove, they have no choice but to conceed to what ownership wants them to do or find themselves without a job. Ownership needs to stop micromanaging and that is what isn't going to happen.
True. But that rebuild has to keep scrapping it's foundation (1st round picks wasted ala Manziel/Richardson/Weeden etc) and try to rebuild another foundation every year.
and they are also correcting their bad decisions almost right away. and we aren't a train wreck because of a guy who has owned the team for 2 years, oh no. that goes back to the Lerner days. its nearly impossible to blame Haslam for anything for about at least 4 years, first time owner trying to rebuild the team and brand from scratch, got rid of everyone possible in the FO, now he's looking for long term options to build a team with. Clowns like you think it just takes a snap of the fingers to happen. There has been zero proof that ownership has stepped in like you claim. Zero.
No need to resort to name calling. Just stating an opinion. I wouldn't say there is zero proof that ownership has stepped in. Manziel was basically forced down the coaching staffs throats by ownership when those on the staff calling the shots didn't think he was ready. Hoyer wasn't getting it done and people were clamoring for Manziel but when he got in, he just proved what the coaching staff was already saying, though not publicly. Plays being sent from ownership via text is a reason Shanahan was willing to move on along with his disagreement over Manziel.
except there is literally zero proof. Manziel was not forced down anyones throats. that was shot down and proven to be nothing more then a rumor by Brent Soboleski (sp?) and Lane Adkins. same thing with the plays. Both rumors by a disgruntled employee (Shanahan)
The speculation on Mr Foosball being the apple of Haslam's eye has been no secret since before the draft. There have been so many rumors flying about, I'd say at least a couple of them true.
Farmers non-committal stance on saying if he pulled the trigger for Johnny is really all that needs to be said.
Tennessee Jerrah got his golden goose to sell tickets, gear from the pro shop and media exposure. Like I've said, best business decision the guy made in quite a while.
nothing more then rumors, and highly, highly doubtful any are true.
if they are true then Farmer should have been fired on the spot for listening to the owner instead of trying to make the team better, not only that once he got fired he would be blacklisted from football at all levels and would be stuck flipping burgers at mcdonalds. winning sells tickets, Owners would prefer winning and selling tickets over just selling tickets.
Fired on the spot by whom? When boss hog tosses his hat in the ring, hard to say no.
No it really isn't . especially when thats not what happened in the first place.
Fact is, money is being made for Haslam either way. Stadium is consistently packed, Browns Backers are the largest professional fanbase in the country and us poor saps will always be dumb enough to tune in.
Fact is, you're wrong here again. the Browns sold an average of 92% of their home tickets, good for 27th in the league.

I'll be happy to give Farmer a pass on Johnny if he was being pressured by número uno. He hit on damn near every draft pick, UDFA and FA this offseason save for Manziel. Seriously,
Go down the list. Bito, Kirksey, West and Desir even looked solid in his limited action. On top of that the guy finds Gabriel, Kwuan, grabs Crow after signing Dansby and Whitner. I'll leave Gilbert off out of the Johnny talk because he has at least flashed the ability to play at the NFL level.
That's a fucking home run off season for a rookie GM.
Gilbert flashed ability to play in the NFL? when? last time i checked he was passed over for Robert Nelson in the final 2 games. Who the hell is Robert Nelson?
He also overpayed for Whitner and Dansby, although they are front loaded contracts.
Hot hand. Bad week in practice and you don't play, Pettine has made that clear. Plus obviously some dedication issues in practice. Crow started clearing up the fumbling issues after sitting a couple games. The vets are outspoken on Justin and wouldn't be if they didn't believe he was capable.
Gilbert played decently against Cincy, Obviously a solid game against Indy, had a couple nice moments against the Falcons. That's from memory, I know he had a few more decent plays. Especially for a raw player at what might now be the hardest position in the NFL.
Whitner came in, brought the hometown flavor and leadership, then lead the team in total tackles. Dansby might have been in the pro-bowl if he stays healthy. Both team friendly contracts.
I gave Farmer a little grief after the draft. He did quite well in hindsight. So long as nobody goes full retard for Winston, for the first time in a while can say I have a certain degree of confidence in Farmer getting a good player.
