Cleveland Browns (official thread of Masochism 2015)

Seriously, fellas? The weather is [Mark May]ty, I'm sore as hell. Just... give me this. A slight belief, even if it is a lie that the team might be ok.

That's what the off-season is for, giving us false hope, not actual team building success.

this is all part of cleveland's ongoing efforts as it pertains to fan experience. first they upgrade the stadium. second, they obliterate any false hopes that may arise during the offseason, which inevitably leads to increased disappointment in the regular season. Kill expectations now, have fewer angry consumers in the fall.

but on a related note, adding hartline would actually be a decent move for the browns, relatively speaking.

Brian set to decide between Chi-town and Cleveland.

Side note: I'm liking Deflippo more and more. I'm not sure if his comments on being surprised about the number of coordinators being interested in Cleveland (and crediting that with Pettine being a good
coach to work with and for) are him being genuine? -or- towing the company line?

In another interesting turn, the buffalo bills have traded draft picks to get matt cassell, and houston is trying to lock up ryan mallett long term. how poorly is brian hoyer looked at in other nfl circles if you think trading draft picks, and paying $4.5 million for matt cassell's services is a better alternative than just signing Hoyer?

Why do you hate Brian Hartline?

Co workers looked at me strangely after laughing out loud.

That's a strange one to me as I was kind of thinking the same.

He played QB in Cleveland. 90% of the time, your career is dead after being subjected to that.

I'm thinking about taking a year off from the Browns...but then of course I'd have no reason to wear this:

So sad to see the state of te NFL

We had to sign 26 year vet McCown (career 4 - 82 record)... our 'future' is in rehab...
other teams are going after Matt Cassell, Ryan Mallett, Derrick Anderson, Brian Hoyer and Jake Delhomme.. sheez. yuk..
while other teams have Peyton, Luck, Wilson
someone is going to draft a rapist and thief #1
Browns are doomed but so are half the teams in the NFL

Cardale Jones is gonna make a good NFL QB..

just look at the state of the qb position in the nfl in about 2-3 years. maybe both mannings are done. brees is probably done. brady is likely done. A-A Ron is 34. That leaves you with Luck and Wilson as "franchise qb's"? Maybe someone else elevates their game, but Romo is no spring chicken, and Rivers and Stafford are erratic at best. The days of great qb's carving up teams en route to the superbowl may not be all that long.

I think a large part of it is colleges shift to spread QB's (and HS for that matter) which doesn't prepare these kids to be pro style QB's in the NFL.

I'll keep hoping/praying the Browns take Sean Mannion in the 3rd, he's the last hope I have at this point.

This may very well be a big part of it. Makes me wonder, how long until NFL teams realize this and start incorporating more spread principles in their base offenses to compensate for that...

Which is why if the Brownies get Shelton, I'd have no issue trading down our 19th pick and getting more potential ammo for moving up next year to get him.

Also, lets hope Jerry Hughes is on the radar.
