Cleveland Browns (official thread of Masochism 2015)

The facts seems to suggest otherwise:

Josh McCown: 32 of 41 (.780) for 352 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 119.1 QBR

Isaiah Crowell: 12 rushes, 63 yards, 5.2 average; 3 receptions, 62 yards, 20.7 average

Duke Johnson: 8 rushes, 31 yards, 3.9 average; 9 receptions, 85 yards, 9.4 average, 1 TD

Travis Benjamin: 6 receptions, 79 yards, 13.2 average

On the other hand, the defense gave up 138 yards to Danny Woodhead and 88 yards to Dontrelle Inman (who?).

But Browns fans will never get over their obsession with a "big time wide receiver", even though the team couldn't win with Josh Gordon putting up historic numbers in 2013 (87 rec, 1,646 yds, 18.9 avg, 9 TDs).

At age 36, McCown is not the long-term answer at QB, but he is not the short-term problem either. The running backs and receivers are competent, and Benjamin has big-play ability. The defense continues to get gashed on the run, puts no pressure on the opposing QB, gives up big plays in the passing game, and commits lots of penalties.
Defend the lack of playmakers all you want, this group isn't going to cut it

Joe Haden does not play because of a broken finger. I know you are one tough guy Joe when you are making way too much money to sit out a game because of a broken finger. Maybe you have been using that finger for tackling, or other things, this season so you probably were not missed that much anyhow.

O'Neil and Pettine really has some nice blitz packages and Philip Rivers says thank you. Count me in as one guy who is not a big fan of Pet as the HC. I thought he was supposed to be a good defensive coach and that was one of the biggest reasons he was hired..

They might not cut it on a fantasy football team, but the Browns' offense did more than enough to win yesterday's game. Meanwhile, the Browns' defense is dead last in yards allowed with 406.2 yards per game, which is 130 yards per game worse than the league-leading Denver Broncos (275.5 ypg). But yeah, Josh McCown is the problem....

New England is a favorite to win a Super Bowl with Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, and Aaron Dobson at WR, and LaGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis (former Brown) at RB. Find me some playmakers in that group.

Patriots have the best TE in football and the best QB of this generation.

This is a stupid arguement. Both sides of the ball sucks right now, let's leave it at that.

You're the one who said the Browns' WR and RB sucked. I listed the Patriots' WR and RB, who also suck. If the Patriots can win with crappy WRs and RBs, then so can the Browns.

The Browns need to focus on the defense (now) and the QB (long term) - if they can't get those things right, then no amount of "playmakers" is going to matter.

I just conned a coworker chargers fan to give me two touchdowns. I think I may lose. Cleveland Browns, the original slumpbusters.

I still do not understand why they are playing McCown and not Johnny. I mean the guy is 36 or 37 years old and so his playing time is limited and is not like the Browns are going to make the playoffs this season so what the hell is difference. They might as well play Johnny and maybe he will shock the world or maybe he will be a complete disaster but at least we will not know what we have. Playing Josh is just a waste of time.

Might have to do with McCown currently being the best QB we have. The idea being for him to be that serviceable signal caller until Johnny has shown better command of the game without getting himself KIA.

Browns couldn't muster a single sack and hand only a small handful of pressures against an Oline that was starting 3 backups on Sunday.

Should indicate which side of the ball is the real problem here.
Yep feel like the time when we switch back to 4-3 from the 3-4 and retool the roster on defense

That might be true but I do not understand how that benefits the Browns in the long run. I understand that he might give us the best shot at winning but that might be debatable depending on who we play. I am not trying to argue your point but I guess I am thinking about the long run because we certainly are not going anyplace this season or probably the next or…
