Defend the lack of playmakers all you want, this group isn't going to cut itThe facts seems to suggest otherwise:
Josh McCown: 32 of 41 (.780) for 352 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 119.1 QBR
Isaiah Crowell: 12 rushes, 63 yards, 5.2 average; 3 receptions, 62 yards, 20.7 average
Duke Johnson: 8 rushes, 31 yards, 3.9 average; 9 receptions, 85 yards, 9.4 average, 1 TD
Travis Benjamin: 6 receptions, 79 yards, 13.2 average
On the other hand, the defense gave up 138 yards to Danny Woodhead and 88 yards to Dontrelle Inman (who?).
But Browns fans will never get over their obsession with a "big time wide receiver", even though the team couldn't win with Josh Gordon putting up historic numbers in 2013 (87 rec, 1,646 yds, 18.9 avg, 9 TDs).
At age 36, McCown is not the long-term answer at QB, but he is not the short-term problem either. The running backs and receivers are competent, and Benjamin has big-play ability. The defense continues to get gashed on the run, puts no pressure on the opposing QB, gives up big plays in the passing game, and commits lots of penalties.
