Cleveland Browns (official thread of Masochism 2015)

The Browns and Bengals are what balance out Ohio State.
We're blessed... just think, we could be Detroit fans. Shitty college. Shitty NFL.
At least the Clowns provide comedic relief while sucking. I mean what other franchise could get their pos GM suspended for attempting to direct games? Only in Cleveland.

I'll take some offensive players before we touch the defense. One receiver over 6ft on this joke of a team.

Our backs suck ass too

and our QB
The facts seems to suggest otherwise:

Josh McCown: 32 of 41 (.780) for 352 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 119.1 QBR

Isaiah Crowell: 12 rushes, 63 yards, 5.2 average; 3 receptions, 62 yards, 20.7 average

Duke Johnson: 8 rushes, 31 yards, 3.9 average; 9 receptions, 85 yards, 9.4 average, 1 TD

Travis Benjamin: 6 receptions, 79 yards, 13.2 average

On the other hand, the defense gave up 138 yards to Danny Woodhead and 88 yards to Dontrelle Inman (who?).

But Browns fans will never get over their obsession with a "big time wide receiver", even though the team couldn't win with Josh Gordon putting up historic numbers in 2013 (87 rec, 1,646 yds, 18.9 avg, 9 TDs).

At age 36, McCown is not the long-term answer at QB, but he is not the short-term problem either. The running backs and receivers are competent, and Benjamin has big-play ability. The defense continues to get gashed on the run, puts no pressure on the opposing QB, gives up big plays in the passing game, and commits lots of penalties.

I'll give you that the defense is the biggest problem right now, which is pathetic given all of the draft picks and money that they put into players on that side of the ball. On the other hand many of these games have been close enough that a true #1 WR could have made the difference by turning some of those FG's into TD's or converting a couple extra 3rd downs a game. Nothing against the 3-4 slot dots that they have, but if they had a 6'4+" burner that can win a jump ball it would give them another weapon in the redzone. Gordon could have been that guy if he could stay clean, but that's why I would have liked to see a guy like Pryor make the team even if he only plays in the red zone. I don't care if Bowe has 9 mil guaranteed, his career is over and it's time to try to find someone that can actually help the team (Pryor, Carter, etc.). Maybe with Farmer back they will be able to make some of those we threw away a bunch of money this off season moves and look for more production on Sunday.

Hey... why you hate Gary Barnidge? 6-75-1

And all of this of course begs the question, would a "big time WR" be a waste in the sense that they're gonna predicate the passing game on TE's and RB's YACing it up?

Doesn't matter, Defense sucks. Blah blah blah, gonna go max out my Discover Card.

Because the OP didn't seem to think that TE was a problem on this team. He probably just forgot to mention TE in his rant.

I imagine that a lot of fantasy football players are picking up Gary Barnidge this week.

Ah... gotcha...

Back to Travis Benjamin... or, as I like to call him to LJB, the Elvis Dumervil of Wide Receivers.
