Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

With Deshaun Watson not having to stand trial during the season, might he be available to the Browns for all of 2022?

Hey, Mary Kay: I just read that both sides in the Deshaun Watson litigation have decided not to have any trials from Aug. 1, 2022 to March 1, 2023. Does this mean barring any suspension from the NFL that he will be available for the entire 2022 season? And if so, then are we looking for a suspension that may occur in 2023? — Gregory Tesoriero, Marco Island, Fla.

Hey, Gregory: The 22 civil suits are separate from the NFL’s investigation and might not have much bearing on Watson’s possible suspension. The NFL’s probe is ongoing, and anything can still happen for this season or beyond.

I asked Commissioner Roger Goodell at the NFL Annual Meeting if investigators, led by the Lisa Friel, will interview more than the 10 Watson accusers to whom they’ve already spoken. He indicated that could happen, and then the league will likely interview Watson. With developments occurring regularly in the civil litigation, including Watson having to reveal what transpired between him and the 18 massage therapists who came out in support of him, the league will be very thorough in its investigation and not act too quickly.

Goodell stated he’s unlikely to place Watson on his Exempt List — essentially paid leave while not counting against the roster — because of the two grand jury non-indictments, meaning a suspension or fine are the likely options. But there’s no timeframe, and even the Browns haven’t been given one. In the meantime, Watson will participate fully in the offseason program beginning April 19 and prepare as though he’ll start the season.

If the lawsuits don't come into play till at least March 2023 I would assume the NFL does nothing until then... because there has to be factual evidence for them to act
so WATSON (corrected) will not see any NFL punishment this year... 2023 - well, that will be interesting

First, "Jackson" is the Ravens QB.

Second, the NFL investigation is separate from the civil suits against him. They actually don't need any factual evidence (evaluated in court) to act, only that he was generally engaged in conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the NFL. They can base this on their own interviews of the women involved or the 18 therapists who said he didn't act inappropriately. (Why this dude have 40+ massage therapists?)

So, the NFL will act when it feels comfortable to do so, could be 2023, could be next week.

I'm wondering if Clemson has a group of women they call massage therapists that are actually just whores so Watson was confused when he got to the NFL. That's why he was trying out so many girls. In Cleveland you just have to DM girls to meet you behind the Cheesecake Factory for a BJ.

2022 NFL Draft: Shannon Sharpe says 'nobody wants Baker Mayfield'

Baker Mayfield and his irreparable relationship with the Cleveland Browns is well-documented and the quarterback's apparent lack of trade buzz ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft is an indictment on the player's overall value, according to FOX Sports' Shannon Sharpe. During this week's Undisputed program, the Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end explained why all his quiet on the Mayfield front in recent weeks.

“Baker Mayfield would still be the quarterback if what a lot of people said Baker Mayfield was going be [was true], which is a franchise-altering quarterback,” Sharpe said, as transcribed by Cleveland.com. “In the NFL, you play well you have a job, you keep a job. Baker Mayfield didn’t play well.”

Just sayin': Sad but true; nobody wants Mayfield including Cleveland. You would think the #1 selection in the NFL draft a few years ago (who is still a potential QB1) would have some value. Well, maybe there are a couple teams that would like to have him, but not with his $18.8M contract.

Cleveland is going to end up cutting him, another team will sign him for the NFL minimum, and Cleveland will have to pay him the difference....

They won't release him and pay the whole salary. They'll either pick up enough of the salary to send him to one of the teams that is interested in him or Baker would have to give up enough money to get them to release him. I bet if he would renegotiate the 19M into a roster bonus paid next Friday they would cut him right now and let him pick his team.
