2022 NFL Draft: Shannon Sharpe says 'nobody wants Baker Mayfield'
Baker Mayfield and his irreparable relationship with the Cleveland Browns is well-documented and the quarterback's apparent lack of trade buzz ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft is an indictment on the player's overall value, according to FOX Sports' Shannon Sharpe. During this week's
Undisputed program, the Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end explained why all his quiet on the Mayfield front in recent weeks.
“Baker Mayfield would still be the quarterback if what a lot of people said Baker Mayfield was going be [was true], which is a franchise-altering quarterback,” Sharpe said, as transcribed by Cleveland.com. “In the NFL, you play well you have a job, you keep a job. Baker Mayfield didn’t play well.”
Just sayin': Sad but true; nobody wants Mayfield including Cleveland. You would think the #1 selection in the NFL draft a few years ago (who is still a potential QB1) would have some value. Well, maybe there are a couple teams that would like to have him, but not with his $18.8M contract.
Cleveland is going to end up cutting him, another team will sign him for the NFL minimum, and Cleveland will have to pay him the difference....
