Well we knew this was coming, it’s the only defense he has for provocation. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t, but the NFL REALLY wishes he hadn’t gone there, I bet
This is even more reason why NFL was so dumb here to let Rudolph off. Fair or not, it was always likely to get percieved as racial... 3 black guys get suspended, the white guy gets nothing. Had the NFL been smart enough to give Rudolph at least a game, maybe two, it's likely it wouldn't have been looked at so racial.
If Garrett is being truthful or not, sadly it does not matter for the NFL, many people will believe it I'm sure, and more race issues is the last thing the NFL needs.
Crock of crap, Pouncey wasn;t protecting his QB when he was ground pounding and kicking a guy who was already pinned by his 320lb teammate.
A fair thing to do if they are somehow going to let Rudolph walk scott free and reduce Pouncey to two games would be to cut Garrett off at 6 games and not leave it indefinite.
I think if Myles was going to use the racial accusation he should have done it immediately after the game. Waiting until the hearing probably made the appeals guys think that Myles was not remorseful about swinging his helmet at Rudolph.
I wonder if Myles ever brought up the fact that he was sucker punched a couple weeks ago while just sitting in his car in downtown Cleveland. He could have told the hearing officers that he was still ticked off about that.
I would have led with the slur as soon as the game was over if it happened. Breaking it out nearly a week later makes it seem made up. If they do find it on the tape it might be Rudolph's career. The other spin I would have thought about was Garrett and his girl were trying to get pregnant and he went crazy when he got kicked in the nuts twice.
Even if it is on the mic - the NFL would never release it. They would bury Garrett's entire season before having the starting QB of a cornerstone franchise throw under the bus in 'THAT' particular regard.
Besides the point, it really matters little. Garrett handle himself beyond poorly.
Side note - dude coming from playing A&M and all.... am I supposed to believe he's never had the bomb dropped on him by the hillbillies there?
