Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Just when the Browns were starting to be competent, they decided in one offseason to torpedo their franchise for the foreseeable future. Losing 5 draft picks for Watson(3 in the 1st round alone), that they'll never get back. And having to start Brissett, a career backup, while having to trade their former 1st overall pick for next to nothing

Your last statement answers your original complaint. No NFL team believes Baker is anything more than an average QB or else they would have traded for him. 19M is cheap for a good QB. If they kept him around as the franchise QB he'd be forever butt hurt that they refused to give him a Josh Allen contract and probably end up walking for less money just to stick it to the Browns. If Watson get through this even with a half season or so suspension at least they have one of the few game changing QB's in the league. They've tried drafting QB's for years and have bombed every single pick. I'm not a big fan of trading away so many future picks, but at least it was something different. I do feel they should have some claim against the Texans if Watson is suspended for a season or more now that it has come out that the Texans were aware of his massage fetish and enabled him with it.

How do you people do it? At what point do you just pack up and say, "I'm done."
It sucks so much. And here's the thing, with the guardindians you get they have to catch lightning in a bottle because of the economics of baseball.

But these idiots don't - they can, and do, spend what everyone else does

Imagine pissing away all of that draft capital only to have to throw out Jacoby Brissette under center to lead you to a 6-11 season. Then, assuming he's allowed to play in 2023, hoping that the guy you mortgaged your future on can overcome not even playing the game for two years. It's just such a Cleveland situation. :slappy:

Deshaun Watson could face a "significant" suspension from the NFL this season, according to The Washington Post, which suggested the league will argue for at least a one-year ban surrounding 24 civil lawsuits centered allegations of sexual misconduct. In fact, that's the expectation from those in Watson's camp when the NFL's decision is made final. Watson does not face criminal charges in any of the cases, but could still be in violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy and may face punishment as a result.

If Watson gets suspended for the season, could Mayfield end up being the Browns starting QB for 2022/2023?

Will be interesting... now that the Texans are equal party to the CIVIL suits... how can the NFL rule in a way that is 'fair' with BOTH Texans and Watson... do you shut down the Texans for a season? nope.. so how do you rule on Watson
PLUS this little issue of precedence... couple years back you had Patriots owner, Kraft... documented in photos committing multiple CRIMINAL acts with human sex trafficking.. and they did nothing...

This ain't no layup... attorney may have to prove Watson FORCED anyone to do anything... and so far, that's probably why there are no criminal charges... no idea if 'forced' is a requirement in civil... probably not

NFL is in a tough spot.. it has to punish Watson somehow since all the publicity but they'll probably be very creative in making it look much tougher than it really is... prohibit him from Feb 15 until July 30 of 2023 and 2024... just made that up
