Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Any wagers on the calamity awaiting in the first round?

I'm gonna go with a total Baker implosion...like, 2 fumbles and 3 picks.

One pick, one fumble.

I think they were kind of reprising the game plan against the giants here on offense and Rudolph made it more interesting than they wanted.

They're gonna try to do the Titans game again.... Dunno if it will work.

Congrats on the playoff berth Brownies, happy to see an Ohio team in it even if mine is not. I'll be rooting for you.
I think the Bengals have a pretty bright future too. Ran into a juggernaut today, but they e got guts and some talent, and if Burrow comes back firing, I think they’re primed to make a move. This will easily be the best division in football.

I know I have seen some folks on Twitter saying Browns fans have been praising Baker too much, suggesting he may not deserve a lucrative extension. That is crazy talk. Baker isn't one of the best QBs in the league, but he isn't all that far off. He has generally been far too efficient and productive to consider letting him go. You can debate whether he is ultimately worth 30+ mill but no doubt the Browns are behooved to try and keep him provided the terms are at all reasonable. I find the money QBs are getting nowadays to be getting out of hand considering you have 52 other guys to pay, but it may be worth it to not immediately return to the QB roulette wheel that just wasted 20 years. I would try and re-sign him at 20-25 mill per, but ultimately that is for the parties to decide.

Thank you, next year should be a year where they make a big leap if Burrow is healthy and they draft decent (operative word being "should"). But you're right, AFC North is going to be the best division by quite a bit and it already started this year. My build prediction of 3 AFC North teams making it in actually came to fruition.

I think that OBJ better get a clue. This team got to the playoffs in SPITE of him, not because of him.

It's past time for that talented kid to get his ish together and be a real team player, because everyone else has joined in and is on board with the way forward.

This is a tired narrative. This team lacks a downfield threat that makes safeties peep without Beckham and even without him, Baker still has a tendency at times to pre-determine his target. While OBJ may have a bit of an attitude at times, there was nothing anyone was willing to put their name on from that lockerroom indicating that Odell was a problem. This team has been very fortunate with their schedule since his injury but the Ravens lack of respect for our receivers downfield could be a terrible foreshadowing of things to come.

Well this sucks

Well, we do need CB's plus the guy has 6'3" but he is a bangle

Probably OV's last snaps with the team, IMHO.

The 6'3 corner is specifically to deal with Claypool. Him winning those 50/50 shots made yesterdays game far closer than it had to be. Wouldn't be so much of an issue if we had a healthy, 6'2 Greedy ready to play. But the Browns don't currently enjoy such a luxury.

I think OBJ is more of a Baker issue than an attitude issue currently. When I hear Baker say I saw OBJ was single covered so I threw him the ball even though he was covered there is an issue. If Baker can pretend OBJ is any other receiver and just throw to the open guy it will work out. The question ends up being will there be attitude or effort issues with OBJ if he is only getting 6 targets a game. If I'm the GM and I could trade him and have 15 mil to spend on a different WR and help on defense I pull the trigger. I'd have to think OBJ would be happier on a team where the QB is used to targeting one receiver a lot like the Texans.

In the NFL, single coverage is about as close as you get to consistently open. Especially with a receiver that wins contested catches the way Beckham can.

That having been said, I agree to an extent. I wonder about the cost:performance we're getting. I would love a downfield threat, and have gone as far to say Brandon Cooks' name (funny you bring up Houston) because I believe you could get a role player like that for a good bit cheaper than the 18mil ODJ costs.

Maybe I watch too much of the Browns defense, but I feel like I see a lot of WR's running around open thanks to scheme rather than coverage. I don't know how Baker sees the below pre-snap read and decides that he's throwing it to OBJ. Perhaps he underthrew OBJ by 5 yards leading to the pick, but Landry looks wide open for an easy 10 yard gain on the other side.
