Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

Doubt they negotiate a contract extension with him this offseason but picking up the fifth year option is a lock.

I think the 5th year option was going to be 27 mil, but just saw an article with the new CBA and a salary cap decrease it might just be 18 mil. I'm ok with 18, but if it was going to be 27 I would decline and try to work out an extension in the 15-20 mil range. The key with Baker is going to be to get him to resign for less than guys like Mahomes and Watson. If they can save 10 mil a year at QB that money can be put into the RB's and OL. I still think Baker is a better QB without OBJ.

While for the most part I agree with your thinking. But if he continues to play the next four games close to what he displayed yesterday I think you have to pay him the market price whatever that may be. I think you are also correct about OBJ. I think Baker thinks that he must get him the ball.

So you’re good with giving him a 30+million a year? based on 5 maybe 6 good games this year?

edit: this assumes the next 4 or 5 are good because until last game he’s been a game manager

I think the only way they can do that is, get to the end of this season and say, well, we are going to commit to picking it up, so, why don't we do an extension where he gets a raise in year 4 and get the bonus money cap hit out of the way now. I mean, Teddy Bridgewater makes 21....

Confident Baker Mayfield that plays within the offense is better than I'm panicking where is OBJ Baker Mayfield.
