Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

The Ratbird defensive front seven does not bring it like the Squealers and what was that score anyway. Maybe Teller would have made a minor difference yesterday and saved one sack.

I do not think Baker is going anywhere real soon. Maybe after next season like Xhawg mentioned above. I think if he would get some protection it would not be so bad but just bad. I do not understand why KS does not roll him out more.

KS couldn't roll him out yesterday. Pittsburgh's D-front is perfectly suited to stop our running game. Want to run OZ? Dupree and Watt will stand up your tackles and TE's, you won't get the edge and their interior has the athletic ability to pursue laterally, cut off reach blocks and not over extend. Want to run that IZ? Their beef can handle your zone steps and shed blocks with technique. Want to run gap and down power? They'll hold their assignments and win with strength while the backers fill and run force with authority. It's a great defense. Can't setup the rollouts if you don't get backside pursuit to crash and help on the running game. Obviously the loss of Bush hurts and their secondary can still be suspect, but we don't have the QB to make them pay for that like other teams have.

If there is one thing that we have learned this season it is that Baker Mayfield is not the quarterback many expected him to be coming out of the draft. Mayfield’s poor performance is not the result of poor coaching and offensive schemes. It is the result of Mayfield not being a good quarterback.
An argument can be made that Cleveland needs to figure out just what Baker Mayfield is. Well, we already know what he is and it is not a franchise quarterback.

I don't know about benching him just yet, but it's becoming clear his struggles last year go beyond the poor coaching he dealt with. Six games into this season and he has shown zero improvement. I'd give it a couple of more games to see if he starts to come around (doubtful) before I'd give him the hook. But, it's looking like he's just another Cleveland QB bust, which is disappointing considering the promise he showed as a rookie.

I wouldn't bench him, especially with the next few games on deck - Cin, then Raiders at home. Both having vulnerable secondaries. If anything, you could inflate his trade value just before the deadline.

They aren't going to trade him...or it's at best a serious longshot. But, those poor secondaries are an opportunity to help his confidence, which I don't think is great right now. Baker has shown ability, but I think he's mentally kind of fucked up right now.

Disagree. His confidence ends up being brash and overly vocal behavior. Basically when he wins he's he cuts loose, has fun and ends up sounding like a jackass. Then when he losses he slumps his shoulders and lets ODB lead the motivational talk to his teammates.

As for mentally kind of fucked up? The poor tendencies he's shown on film the last 2 & 1/2 years are being exploited by better defenses regularly now. Me thinks it has little to do with being "mentally kind of fucked up". I don't think Baker has shown the eyes necessary to play at the level of a #1 overall pick.

SuperBowl contenders with the Amish Rifle? Look, I like Fitzmagic as much as the next guy, but there’s a reason he’s played for 2/3 of the teams in the league.

Right. I mean, so, its not like Baker doesn't deserve to be benched (Maybe), but, most of the arguments in favor of it end up being self defeating once the reality of replacing him is factored in.

Fitzmagic beating the Steelers or Ravens on the road? Is Case Keenum? No. Is there anything you're going to find out about those 2 guys you don't already know? (Yeah, I know I already said they aren't beating these incarnations of the Steelers and Ravens on the road in the week they played them).

And this isn't any of you guys, but you read the "analysis" and the underlying fear is, that Mayfied is good enough to beat teams they should but not beat actual good teams and as a result not win in the playoffs etc. I don't see the downside in 10 more games, and seeing how the rest of the team responds to big games too. And Stefanski himself.

Now, before we go all, "what about the Vikings in 2017" - they were #1 in the NFL in total defense. (And they still got smoked by the Steelers at Heinz).

End of the day, I think Stefanski is headed in the right direction, he's the QB expert, I think its best to let him and AVP manage the situation with Mayfield and see if they can help him, either coaching or playcalling, etc.

Heck, right now there are 4 teams in the AFC worth a broke dick and if 3 of them lose their QB they'll be immediately pedestrian, you have to play this till the end and see what you have.... are we tired of suffering all of the sudden?
