Steady production at 3.3 yards a clip.

Like I said, I've watched Hyde since he came into the NFL, he's nothing special. This team is not winning more than 5, maybe 6 if they're lucky, games this year...with or without Hyde. And you don't draft RBs high in the 2nd round to give them 3 carries a game. He was never going to get more than that with Carlos here.

I get that it sucks that a Buckeye only lasted 6 games, but he had little impact on the future of this team. And they should still be focusing on the future at this point. For once, the clowns have a competent personnel guy, let him do his thing. Now you can see how much you can count on Duke and Chubb for the future instead of handing a guy that should be a part-timer 20 carries a game.

BTW, Hyde has been plagued with injuries throughout his career. He didn't make it a full season with the Niners after he became a starter, so he was likely gonna break down at some point anyway. Now at least you get a draft pick and 10 weeks to evaluate your young backs.

It's well noted that Chubb has issues with the protection scheme and blocking. So if he biffs on something that gets Baker a shredded ACL - I would like to think that impacts the future of the team had Hyde been in there.

Just my 2 cents but I don't like this move and we'll see how it shakes out.

This paragraph makes no sense to me.
I agree, Hyde is a journeyman kind of guy ... but if a journeyman is keeping your 2nd round pick on the bench... what's that say about him ?
Chubb doesn't look like anything special right now either.
And a 5th round pick is, frankly, meaningless to me. This isn't a team that drafts well in the 1st or 2nd round - let alone the 5th.
Personally, I'd like to keep every well grounded veteran we can get. With how this team has drafted shitbags Gordon, Manziel, Peppers, Coleman, Gilbert, etc. ... I can imagine that trend continues into the other rounds. This team could use a few career journeymen.

Jesus...it's like watching the Bucks all over again. Two defensive penalties to extend a drive for Tampa TD. A 15 yard penalty on the OL costs them a drive. Finally get a good play on defense and make it worse with a dumb penalty. And the OL cannot block.

What a mess.
