What bothered me most about the Browns is their insistence of trading back for the next year. Problem has been the "next year" has never came and even when it does they'll just fuck it up even more grandly.

You know the Browns FO thinks they're so slick for gathering all these draft picks. They actually think they're making progress. It's like an investor who keeps saving money to invest one day and then sees Enron sitting there looking all swag and they think it's legit.
It's more like this....

When I was a kid, we all collected baseball cards. And we traded cards with each other. There'd always be some kid who'd trade you one Reggie Jackson for an Ed Kranepool, two Mike Champions, and a Larvell Blanks. And that kid always thought he was getting the great deal because he ended up with four cards to your one.

And that's the Browns draft philosophy in a nutshell.

Exactly. One of the supposed benefits of being shitty is that you get first crack at the best prospects in the draft. Successful teams have star players. Not just a bunch of "okay" guys. But, the clowns seem to subscribe to the "load up with a bunch of bodies at the expense of star players" philosophy. Peepers is the perfect mascot for this philosophy because he does a bunch of things, but none of them at a very high level. That will be the clowns roster in a nutshell: they drafted a bunch of guys, but none of them perform at a particularly high level.

Now, that's not to say there's never merit in trading down and stockpiling picks. That's a solid strategy when there's nobody really worth picking where you sit, or you need more draft picks. The Clowns were in neither situation. There were a couple of potential stars sitting there at 12, and they already have a shit load of picks. There's a reason they've had <10 players selected for the Pro Bowl in their 18 years. Because they don't pick good players.

Reading all of you guys makes me hate that team even more. The reason I'm such a diehard buckeye fan is because the Browns without a doubt have the worst franchise in sports

The Browns are not only the Browns, they also seem to be about as anti Buckeye as a team can. to Peppers developing migraines or something.

He's already got Chlamydia.
I'm really curious how Powell and Peppers numbers compare in College. It seems to me they have similar athletic strengths and weaknesses (spec occasional bad angles) - similar style Safety/Star at their best. Though i dont need to look to know Powell has a lot more interceptions - and critical ones in big games.
But one of those players is a UFA claimed off waivers and the second is the 25th pick overall based on media hype.

Sweet... hope everyone really likes that TE... because he's going to be starting

It's a good thing Tennessee Jerrah needed to free up that cap space
I'm starting to think theyre fielding cheap trash to turn a bigger profit. And then there's the Osweiller trade - whose still probably the best QB on that roster. And will surely be motivated to play hard after being rumored that his employers just wanted to offload his contract for draft picks all off season.

This is actually entertaining when you stop caring.

Powell is 4 inches taller, same weight, same speed, a few inches less on broad and vertical jumps.

Powell is a cheap flyer with upside. Peppers won defensive awards with good returns and unrequited excitement when he was expected to do things with the ball on offense.

So on height Powell is also more suited for the hybrid Chancellor SS.
Peppers won defensive awards though. Tbh im not sure how... with the exception of returns, i completely discard the offensive nonsense. We're talking NFL and he's not Deion Sanders. Nor did he ever come close to the Woodson hype on the field.
In terms of quantitative stats im guessing Powell was more productive? In terms of athleticism, i think the combine should've been another watershed moment on Peppers. They're both more effective closer to los imo, but Powell is at least servicable in coverage and can tackle JT on the edge.
The only thing i see more from Peppers is returns... but thats not 1st round material.

Actually, it will be quite funny to see Powell and Peppers taking bad angles to the ball all afternoon long. Over/under on how many times they run into each other on "coverage".
