Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

You trusted The Quarterback Whisperer when he decided not to take Carson Wentz at #2, so now you've got to trust him when takes Cody Kessler in round three.

If taking Kessler in round three was stupid, then maybe passing on Wentz at #2 was also stupid.

Can't have it both ways.

Remember, I agreed with you prior to the trade that it would be a good idea for the Browns to take Wentz or Goff. Remember the stats I put up on the drafting of QBs? However the Browns made the trade BUT that doesn't take away that in either instance, trading back from #2 (MAY BE STUPID) or selecting Kessler (WAS STUPID). Bottom line; BOTH MOVES WERE STUPID if the Browns continue making STUPID FUCKING CODY KESSLER TYPE PICKS with the assets acquired in the trades made. LBJ, every single Browns fan is tired of this type of BS. The only way they redeem this move is if they somehow trade that sorry ass of a QB and get a bag of footballs in return..at a minimum. Nothing directed at you with malice amigo. It's the same old Cleveland Browns FO BS. Just venting.

I guess they are all solid citizens so that is a plus. Hopefully, they will remain so when they get to Cleveland.

I have a problem understanding the pics of the guy from Oklahoma State and the guy from PSU because I think essentially they play very similar positions. Maybe I am wrong. The guy from Auburn looks okay if he can hold up medically. Like everyone else I just do not understand the QB pick in the third round. He would have been available in later rounds but I am talking to people who know that and not the Browns FO.

Hopefully, today will lead to a happy day but I do not have a Masters in statistics.

You can think Wentz wasn't worth the #2 pick AND Kessler in the 3rd is a bad pick. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Jackson on Cody Kessler pick: 'You've got to trust me'

The Cleveland Browns stunned most football experts Friday night by eschewing more highly thought of quarterbacks to select Cody Kessler in the third round.

It's been easy to skewer the Browns for their millennium-long search for a quarterback. This time around, however, it's clear new coach Hue Jackson pushed for the pick.

"I understand where everybody's coming from, but you've got to trust me on this one," Jackson said of questions about Kessler being a reach, via the Akron Beacon Journal. "This is a guy that we feel very comfortable with, and we feel he's going to have an opportunity to ascend."

Kessler's tools don't wow: He has an average arm, stands just 6-foot-1, has mediocre pocket presence. He is, however, very accurate, completing 67.5 percent of his passes at the University of Southern California. Kessler's other positive trait: he doesn't turn the ball over. After three full seasons as a starter, Kessler left college with 88 touchdowns to just 19 interceptions.

Hmmm. A game manager with mid-level tools who is accurate and doesn't turn the ball over. Who does that remind you of? Oh, right, Andy Dalton. Jackson just coaxed the best years out of Dalton in Cincinnati. The coach didn't compare his old QB to his new protégé, but it's easy to see the similarities, especially in work ethic.

Cont'd ...

Shoberts the second walk-on they've taken. Not saying it's a good or bad thing but they're clearly looking at these guys backgrounds.
