Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

While I agree that there were probably BPAs available with the Browns selected Coleman last night, I guess I am okay with the pick because even though he is a product of the pass happy Baylor offense he has speed and that is one thing…. I guess my only question would be why did not they make a better effort at trying to keep Benjamin during the off-season. I know that Coleman is younger and might be a little bit faster than Benjamin but certainly not by much. I guess I will just wait and see on him. However, I do wish that he had a little more size to him.

Tonight, the Browns have to start selecting guys that can help this team on the OL and in the secondary. I guess that would be a start with maybe a ILB thrown in. Oh hell what am I saying, they need help everywhere at every position. I do not know how feasible it is for them to be able to bundle some of their fourth and fifth round draft choices to get into the second round. If it means that they have to give up a third round pick so be it they need to start getting some guys who can play.

I imagine that they will slide back from 32 and get some more pics but I am not totally sure that. One of the reasons I would like for them to slide back is that I am afraid of Cook and HackENshit and the more teams in front of us the better chance they both will be gone. I would also like to give me big shout out to Denver for taking Lynch and I do not care if he makes it into the Hall of Fame when his career is over.

I'd settle for them staying at 32 and taking Spence. He can be a steal at this point. I agree they need OL and secondary help as well so if they went that route, so be it. They have so many holes though, they can go just about any position and upgrade. If they don't address OL or secondary or wherever else at the top of this draft, I fully expect them to address whatever they don't address this year, in next years draft. I'm expecting a dreadful season this year, a QB drafted with their first 1st rounder next year and then for them to continue to fill holes with the rest of their bevy of picks. I would prefer they upgrade the OL this year though, if they are going to draft a top QB next year.

Maybe someone can help me out but could we bundle one of our fourth round and fifth-round picks to get an additional pick in the second round or exactly what would it take. Also, maybe we could use a third round pick with a fifth-round pick. Not sure if that would work or not but I would like to see more than one or two pics in the second round.

My guess is.. generally, you don't move up to a round by offering any number of picks in later rounds...
You can upgrade your position in a given round by offering your selection in that round along with addl later round picks

I guess that is what bothers me. How many fourth-round and fifth-round picks make it in the NFL. That is why I would like to bundle a couple for a second round pick but you are saying that is not likely to happen.

In the middle of the second round.. you have available one of the best 50 players

Mid 4th is one of best 150th best players
Mid 5th is one of best 180th best players
the bridge is too wide

From what I understand, his drop rate was only around 6.6% his senior year.

So essentially he's Teddy, minus the Olympic speed at the top of the route?

Kid has the burst off the line and the willingness to fight through contact, no doubt about that. Like I said, I don't HATE the pick. I just feel Shaq Lawson and Michael Thomas would have been a better pairing for this team
to start day two.

I don't hate the pick either. I don't want that to be confused with me being thrilled with it, either. I didn't really know anything about Coleman before and I still have some skepticism. What I'm going to trust is that the GM did his due diligence and had a reason why Coleman was at the top of the Browns board at #15.

All you need to know about Coleman is the first time he's lead across the middle he'll be literally split in half by the opposing strong safety.
