Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

Just checking in to see if RGIII is injured yet.

If the Browns are smart...

Are you guys done laughing yet?

Ok...If the Browns are smart they leave RGIII in the packaging as long as possible.

So they interviews the top 3 draft choices at qb.... Then picked up RG3. Definitely a down year at the qb position. I actually like the move. I think a healthy RG3 has a lot more potential. trade down and try to get someone for him to throw to?

I still believe they draft a QB at 2. Not sure how this is viewed as a weak QB class either.
None of the QBs jump off the board looking like they have everything it takes to be great. This is like the '13 and '14 QB class of Bortles, Bridgewater, Manziel, Carr, EJ Manuel and Geno Smith. They all look like they could be solid 2nd/3rd tier QBs, they will work with your supporting cast and won't typically lose you or win you games. A lot of 2nd/3rd round QBs will provide the same effect. Whereas last year with Winston and Mariota or '12 with Luck and RG3 or '11 with Cam where there was 'The Guy' that the worst team in the league could pick up as their franchise qb and then there is a bunch of 2nd and 3rd tier QBs after that. Odds are Wentz/Goff/Lynch will likely have good careers starting for a sub .500 team. History says you can get a 2nd tier QB in the late first round or in the second round. But using the 1st or 2nd overall picks to get what looks like a future 2nd tier QB doesn't make him any better than if you picked him up with the 20th pick. Someone picking up Goff at 10 or Lynch at 20 both got much better value than Wentz at 2. If you're sitting there with a top 2 pick you're hoping college will provide you with a Luck or a Winston, not a Goff or Wentz.

Say what you want about RG3, he had one of the best rookie seasons as a QB ever in the NFL as a passer, until he got hit in the knee. If he's finally injury free after a year off I'd call that a better bet than who's on the draft board. Of course at Cleveland he'll spend more time running for his life than Washington and an injury free season seems unlikely.

My guesses
Browns trade #2 pick.. maybe get #1, #2, #4 and a player this year... #1, #3, #5 next
They have too many needs.. and free agency was anything but a bonanza
They go for DE, CB, WR, OT, DT, LB in first couple rounds
They take a QB but hope to get lucky on round 2 or 3.. RG III is their QB for next few years; they'd be smart to keep McGown; and Pryor is safety stock

in a way I agree but I do not think that the teams who need QB's are going to give all of what you are asking for to move up to the #2 spot… May be a draft choice in the third round plus their own pick in the first. I do not think that you will get much more depending upon the team.
