Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

I think the Browns were ok with their QB coach last year. As big of a [Mark May]head as he is Manziel looked much better than he did the previous season. Hoyer's biggest problem was he was unwilling to mentor Manziel. He needs to go someplace where all the QB's are fighting for the job (like Houston this year) or where he's backing up and established starter and knows his role. Honestly if Manziel wasn't an addict we wouldn't even be talking about first round QB this year.

For Johnny to look better this season it really didn't take much given that he hard arguably the worst debut in Browns QB history against Cincy & Carolina. Him simply learning any bit of the playbook was an improvement. He was THAT bad
his rookie year. Difficult to have a sophomore slump when you're pure trash at the position to begin with. His addiction does hold him off of the football field, but he has a questionable skill set even if he were a damn choir boy.

As for Hoyer, dude sure as hell wasn't wrong, was he? He didn't want to mentor an entitled, whiny prick with zero work ethic. Good on him.

I was getting ready to reply, but then I realized I could give two shits about what happens to Manziel or Hoyer for that matter. Too bad he couldn't have cleaned it up enough for the Browns to trade him instead of pay him 5 mil to go away in a few weeks. Hopefully the next time we see him he'll be hanging out in a cow pasture on the side of the highway.

I was hoping/assuming the contract has language about conduct.. thus able to cut him loose and pay him nothing

The article I read today said they had to wait till the next league year in March or he would have a 5 mil cap hit this year. I'm sure this is bonus money that is already paid, but needless to say they aren't going to get it back and he will cost against next years cap.

Plus I think they already rolled over all their unused cap for 2016, so they'll have to wait for the league year to start.
