Cleveland Browns (2014 Season)

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2014/08/cleveland_browns_cut_cornerbac.html

One to keep an eye on is former Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill, their 2012 second-round pick out of Georgia Tech. He played for the Jets in 2012 when Pettine was defensive coordinator.
I remember a lot of Browns fans wanted to draft this guy in the first round a couple of years ago. One of those combine warriors who simply can't play. He's probably worth picking up as a free agent to see if he can give you something.

the Browns picked up a 6'5" WR that was released from Dallas… I never heard of the guy.

Also picked up a OT, OG, and a running back. Have no idea what they are going to do with the RB.

Here are the names:

Browns claimed WR LaRon Byrd off waivers from the Cowboys.

The #Browns claimed OT Ryan Seymour, I'm told. Has played for the #Seahawks and #49ers.

The # Browns did end up finding another RB. I'm told they claimed Glenn Winston, who played for # 49ers and Michigan St

Super Bowl champion #Seahawks lost two on waivers: guard Caylin Hauptmann to #Browns and DL Benson Mayowa to #Raiders.

I thought that Rex would be back by now. Petine really loves those DB's… carrying 12 on the roster. Hopefully, a few of them can cover receivers.

It might have something to do with wanting to see what happens with Gordon over the next day or two. If he sues and is granted an injunction there might not be room for Rex this week while they sort everything out. Probably good to have a couple guys you don't mind cutting on your roster this week.

Two scenario's I envision. Either the above is correct, Gordon's legal team files the injunction a few days before the game and the Steelers have wasted their prep supposedly for seeing Manziel - when in truth, they'll face a top 3 WR.

Or, Nothing. I'm leaning towards the latter because I don't think Josh's side, our management nor coaching staff would cut it that close.

If I was Gordon I'd only take it to court if I felt pretty confident that I was going to get the injunction. Right now it's basically a 6 month suspension, but even taking it to court probably makes it a 12 month suspension injunction or not. Noted getting the injunction a 12 month suspension wouldn't be much worse if it lasted from say March to March. If they are 50/50 that he is going to have to sit out a season now or in 2 years now might be the better option.

I don't know what happens if he's granted an injunction and the NFLPA and the League agree on a new drug policy that makes his current failed test under the limit before the case makes it through the court. The NFLPA could fight to get all pending suspensions held to the new standard rather than the old one and Gordon gets cleared. I'd guess within 2 years the NFL will have a similar policy on weed as the Olympics.

Another argument I just thought of that might have worked better than "secondhand smoke" would be to find a doctor as an expert witness to state that THC or whatever they test for stays in fat cells and is released into the body when the body burns the fat. Josh smoked enough weed when he was younger to fail a test at the NFL's ridiculously low level without even being around smoke, just by cutting his body fat. They would just need the science to back it up. That might be easier said than done.
