I wonder how much the Browns will save this year by not re-signing Dawson because he did not really sign a lucrative contract with the 49ers. By the time the Browns sign another placekicker, I doubt if they will save that much money. Dawson is a very class guy by not telling if the Browns may any offer at all. This will come back and bite the Browns and they will lose one or two games this season because of it.
moreCLEVELAND, Ohio -- Former Browns kicker Phil Dawson, on a conference call with Cleveland media today, declined to say if the Browns made him an offer before he signed a one-year deal with the 49ers.
"I appreciate the interest in that, but I'm 100% moving forward and that's just how I'm going to roll with this.''
The Browns are not believed to have been serious about re-signing the 14-year Browns veteran before he signed with San Francisco for a reported $2.25 million, including $1 million guaranteed.
