I will wait and then pass judgment on what the Browns are doing. Slaughter is not that bad of a player. Before his Achilles injury, he would knock the socks off of guys. If nothing else, he will be a good special teams player.

We do not have the draft picks that the 49ers have boldly will be close to that luxury next year.

Trying to keep things in perspective. All-in-all, this team has had worse off-seasons and this year some of their moves should see them improve. Minus the obvious moves to replace players for example replacing Phil with Shayne Graham (Can't replace Phil and he deserves a shot to win a SB with San Fran). These are moves, IMO, this team did to try and improve this year.

LB Paul Kruger (IMO, an improvement over Fujtia or Gocong) Biggest move in FA
LB Quentin Groves (If he can stay out of trouble, adds depth at LB)
DL Desmond Bryant (See above, depth and youth on the D-Line)
TE Gary Barnidge (Depth and blocking to improve the running game)
TE Kellen Davis (See above TE)
DB Chris Owens (Depth in the secondary)
DB Kevin Barnes (See above)
QB Jason Campbell (Don't get this one other than he is a vet)
WR David Nelson (Big receiver and threat in the red zone)
RB Dion Lewis (Change of pace back that can run and catch, nice compliment to the Browns other backs)
LB Ryan Rau (Shrug. Banner knows something we don't)
RB Chris Ogbonnaya (Re-signed) (Steady RB; but adds depth).
WR Bess (Trade) - Nice addition to the WR corp. I think the guy will be a big help and fits the Norv Turner system

Draft
Mingo - OLB needed in the new scheme. Not a bad pick.

McFadden- Should be a nice compliment to Haden. Saw him play a few times last year. Teams did not go his way and when they did, they were not very successful. Solid safe pick IMO.

Slaughter - (Shrug). There were safer picks.

Someone mentioned earlier that the staff is taking a page out of the Patriots book by adding a 3rd and 4th round pick next year could be spot on. I don't mind the moves.

IMO, I think this team is better next year with the additions made this year. Horton's defense should be better and an offense with a very good offensive mind running the show + one more year with the current core players. They may reach .500.

The Slaughter pick was a little surprising to me. He only played in 3 games before getting injured last year, but he had a decent junior season. Maybe the Browns really are happy with who they've drafted so far and plan on dropping him later, who knows. I will say that Slaughter can deliver the wood and had good speed, better than his counterpart Zeke Motta before Jamoris was injuried. He might have shown that in the combine and thats what they liked. Slaughter was a great leader and helped train the young secondary in the time he spent on the sideline.

A bit surprising Motta wasn't picked up first given he was the lone veteran in the secondary that played last season, but glad that Slaughter has a spot for now after failing on a bid for a medical redshirt from the NCAA.
