Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

No Jay Gruden, no McDaniels. This won't be an epic fuck up unless we hire Chud back.

I wonder why nobody has dropped David Shaw's name?! If there is one coach in college I feel could be successful at the pro level, it's him.
I am sure that other teams besides the Browns have asked about him but I highly doubt if he is leaving Stanford this year or whenever. I mean why even embarrass yourself further. The only thing I can think is that the Browns are waiting on the Denver OC but that could be very embarrassing if they go to the Super Bowl and he turns them down or gets another gig.

On another note, Ray Farmer, assistant GM to the Browns, is interviewing with the Dolphins for their GM opening. I hope that does not happen.

Agreed - experienced, offensive mind, still relatively young (51), got AZ to the freaking Super Bowl.....yes, please. His downfall was he never got the pieces in place from the big boys, especially a QB after Warner left. With a good GM in place, he'll be fantastic. Of course, that means we need a good GM in place.
unfortunately, Jason La…… says that Whiz will probably end up in Detroit so we shall see. The Browns said that they were not going to interview anyone that they interviewed last year and they interviewed Whiz last year so I do not know what the disconnect was (I guess we could speculate) was that turned both sides off last year that would be different this year.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Jim Tressel has not been contacted by the Browns. But he sounds like a guy who would like to be.

“I have not had discussions with Cleveland,” Tressel said in a radio interview Thursday. “That doesn't mean I don't have any interest in the NFL or anything. I don't want to paint that picture. But at this point, I have not.”

Speaking with 97.1 FM in Columbus while promoting an appearance at an autograph show this weekend, Tressel absolutely expressed interest in coaching in the NFL and left open the door that he could be involved in the league's coaching carousel the next month.

“I think it's going to be an interesting time in the next few weeks, the next month, and I wouldn't count anything out,” Tressel said.

Also the same coach that blew several leads by forgetting to run the damn ball...

Uhhh wrong.. when EVERYONE you interview turns you down.. you may have to EXPAND your search
Chud's still available

Exactly. The other side of that coin is, if they havent' hired a coach when they wanted to by last week, maybe they're open to suggestions.

Speaking of which, what about Chud?

Here's what'll likely happen, and I don't think I'm going too far out on a limb here. This "exhaustive" coaching search will yield another c-level flunky, who Banner and Haslam will call "one of the brightest young minds in football", he'll fall flat on his face, and everybody will be back here in 12-24 months having the same discussion.
