Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

I'm pissed.. at everything and everyone... that has to do with the Browns

and then I read the tweet (and I'm paraphrasing from memory)
Browns have had like 8 coaches since 1999 and no playoffs
Steelers have had 3 coaches since 1969 and 8 Super Bowls
2002. But, in fairness, the author might have erased that game from his memory. I wouldn't blame him.

Today, I'm trying to figure out what Cleveland could've offered Chip Kelly to get him last year. Then again, since it's the Browns, it probably would've resulted in a 4-12 season.

There are seriously some pro franchises that should discount tickets.

Even though they had rough years, If I'm looking to retread, I'm looking at Shanahan or Kubiak....
Shanahan would be a disaster. He built this aura around him based on two SB wins 15 years ago. Since then, he's been pretty average...maybe slightly above average. He caught lightning in a bottle with RG3 for one year then fell flat on his face. Plus, he's old. I wouldn't be too enamored with Kubiak either. He's a .500 career coach.

If I still gave a shit, I'm not sure who I'd want them to go after. O'Brien would probably be the guy. Maybe Lovie. But again, they're gonna have to find a guy that's ok with limited say on the roster. For my money, and who I want for the sheer comedic ecstasy, is Josh McDaniels. And that's who I think it'll be. And it will be glorious. Somebody like Whisenhunt wouldn't surprise me, but that would be boring.

I think Snyder hosed Shanahan as did the previous cluster fuck FO in Washington. That said, I don't disagree he has seen better days, but I like his discipline. I still like Kuibiak and think he may have learned a thing or two from his days in Houston. His record has a bit to do with where Houston was in their start up.

I can't stand Whisenhunt, he laid a huge turd in Arizona in my opinion. McDaniels is being mentioned all over the place along with Billy O'Bunion.....

With regard to Chud, it always bothers me when I hear people in the media saying that his players really like him. In some regards, I think that is a big red flag because the players do not have to give 100% all of the time IMO.

Also, Chud took this job knowing that he would not have full control over the roster so he must have really wanted the job pretty bad. If he was such a good candidate to become the HC I guess I do not understand why his name was never brought up for other openings and from what I have read Carolina Panthers fans were not unhappy to see him leave.

I would also take a strong look at Ray Horton and let him walk because Arizona's defense is much better this year that it was when he was the DC. Maybe it is the talent and maybe it is a scheme but a lot of money was spent on that talent that never came together.

the only regime in Washington over the past several years has been Dan Snyder. He hired Shannahan.

I don't know. Never seen anything out of Kubiak that impressed me. Seems very ordinary to me. Shanahan is too old to come somewhere that needs essentially a total rebuild. Maybe McDaniels could actually work if he didn't have any real say over personnel decisions. He's a good offensive mind, there's no denying that. Whisenhunt did some good things in Arizona, but I don't see him repeating that without a legend QB.
