Cleveland Browns (2013 Season)

I just do not understand why they did not sign Troy Smith unless it has something to do with his CFL contract. I mean reading a little about Tanney he certainly did that much for the Cowboys during preseason except throw interceptions and get sacked. He got sacked 7 times in one exhibition game. Oh My!

It doesn't really matter. I would rather take a flier on a second year guy that may have potential rather than an older guy that doesn't have much time left and already washed out of the NFL.

I think that is the main reason we were disappointed with the Weeden pick. Even if he could make quick decisions and see the field he only had 5-7 years of shelf life. That's what we get for Holmgren trying to hit home runs and striking out twice.

Well, yeah, what Hawg said, AND... it may well be that Troy is trying to focus on being the QB of the Alouettes (that's not to say/imply/surmise in any way that there was even a conversation) but, right, why does he want to come, play for a few games and put the other situation up in the air. NFL, sure, but, maybe its better that he play a full season in the CFL, in a stable environment for once and then see where he is. He's still younger than Weeden I think.

Because the clowns brass are not Buckeye fans like us. Troy was a great college QB, but there's a reason 32 teams are not calling him. I watched him play for the 49ers a couple of years back, it was one of the things that resparked my interest in them, and aside from one good half against a terrible Rams team, he was not good. Yes, they sucked then, but so do the clowns.

I do not want the Browns taking a player just because he is a Buckeye but the other two guys that they were looking at are not very good either and at least Smith knows something about running a "pro-style" offense but I guess it does not make any difference who they bring in this late in the season especially with their record.

My only point was that the only reason Troy gets mentioned here is because he's a former Buckeye great. He really hasn't shown anything more in the NFL than any number of other guys. It's a Buckeye site, so naturally he's thought of here, but if went to school somewhere else, he'd never be mentioned.

According to a story on Cleveland.com tickets for the Jacksonville game can be had $8 through secondary markets. I guess the fans of the Browns are finally getting tired of watching a losing Or whatever team.
It's a testament to how loyal that fanbase is. In most other markets, after all of this dumbfuckery, they'd be struggling to draw 40K a game. The fans deserve a better product than what they've been paying their hard-earned money for. I haven't been to a game in years. Even passed up really cheap tickets to watch them play Miami two years ago to go to some rinky-dink beer fest. I won't put any more effort or money into that organization until I see legitimate signs of sustained success. And I'm not talking one fluke season like 2007.
