Good. Maybe now they'll get down to serious business and hire the defensive-minded coach with NFL credentials that they really need. That's the specialty of the most qualified candidates on the market, and is the quickest path to developing a true strength and identity for this team.
I think it's crazy the way Browns fans have seemed to turn their nose up at guys like Lovie Smith or Nick Saban. Smith has flaws but still won seven games or more in eight out of nine seasons in Chicago, went to eight wins or better in 6 of 9 seasons and double-digit wins in 4 of 9 seasons. Hell, even Nick Saban had a nine-win season in Miami. Going into last night there seemed to be some people who would drop down to their knees and blow Chip Kelly if he turned the Browns into a nine-win team, but they don't want the Browns to look at guys who have actually done it before.
