Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Heard it on the radio this morning. I guess that means he won't be the starting CB next year.

He's been starting at safety. Would still love to see Matt Elam end up in Cleveland. Eric Reid has also slid to the second round in most mock drafts. This is a really deep safety class, so I'm hopeful the Browns find a good young safety to pair with Ward.

I would be surprised if they didn't take 3 DBs in the next draft...one high(er), one middle, and a flyer or even 2 late. It isn't they type of pick set that excites fans, but it's really what this team needs. We have 2 of the 4 better DBs in the league and absolutely nothing else. We need starters, nickels, safeties, depth, everything.

The next biggest concern has to be our pass rush. This dline seems to have trouble getting to the QB when they aren't presented obvious passing downs.

Hard to tell this year, they were without Taylor and Rubin for so long. A pass-rushing DE to pair with Sheard would be nice, but I am more concerned about the OLBs...infusing some talent in the middle 3 will help the pass rush, especially if we get a guy that can get in the backfield once in a while.

Yup, I agree with both of you guys. I think that 3 game winning streak against the powerful Squealers (without their starter), Raiders and Chiefs suddenly gave everyone a lot of false hope and we started to look through brown colored glasses. We need a lot of help on defense and especially in the defensive backfield. I don't even think that Joe and Ward are top-notch but they do get the job done. I hope whoever gets the job next season will teach our DBs how to tackle and the fact that they don't need to try and take someone's head off instead of tackling properly.

I think our pass rush suffers to a certain extent because Jauron doesn't like to blitz very much and when we do we usually get burned. Last Sunday was a prime example when Patterson came off of the left edge and there was a wide-open receiver in the end zone.

On another topic, Fletcher seems to be back walking a lot of his comments he made yesterday regarding his family and how they were treated. When you going to another team's stadium, it should be a little leery of how you act especially towards employees and fans of the home team. It is unfortunate but it is true.

I think if my history of posting on Buckeye planet has demonstrated anything, it's that I know an absurd amount about championship level football.

Having said that - its time to go ahead and extend Coach Shurmur another three years. Get some continuity and community spirit around the team - turnover does nothing but cripple confidence.

Three year contract extension at the current rate, take a run at signing Plaxico Burress and Blaine Gabbert in the off season, bring in Art Shell to coach the defense and build a championship attitude from withi.....

I can't even finish typing this.
