The Browns look like they will now get the #5 pick in the draft ( I can't see them winning again). If Jax beats Indy (probably will happen) then they can move into #4.

Indy with the #1 pick might be the only team ahead of them that goes for a QB. I doubt St. Louis (Sam Bradford) and Minnesota (1st round pick Christian Ponder) will go for a QB.

So the Browns can pick up either RGIII or Matt Barkley from USC. I say go for a QB if they are available. Colt is a great guy, but after 2 years with him this offense has gone nowhere.

This team just has no talent. None.

Thomas is nice. I'm hard pressed to find anything else to get excited about. There just isn't anything there.

Haden could be good I guess.

This is just a shitty team top to bottom.

watching peyton hillis run anymore is as painful as watching lydell ross. hillis leaves so many yards on the field it's comical. one of the biggest things holding back cleveland's offense is poor play by the rb's. a lack of a true #1 WR hurts as well. even if cleveland drafts a qb, and if RG3 or Barkley show to be franchise potential, they should, the wr and rb spots need addressed.

I still feel that WR, RB & RT still need to be addressed before QB.

Much like Penn State RB's - I'd avoid USC QB's like its the plague.

So unless RG3 puts on a helluva combine and pro day (release, timing accuracy) then i'm still saying no. He looks to be a smart kid too, I'd love to have him on this team. But without said pieces in place, it would be a futile effort.

Cleveland is a lot like Detroit in how many draft picks they have wasted over the years, especially at QB. I am not sure why they traded up to draft Quinn and then threw him out and drafted McCoy. I have heard people complain all that Quinn did was dump the ball off all the time. McCoy does the same thing...hell Flacco does the same thing and he actually has a few good receivers unlike the Browns. If your going to play the dump off passing game, then be more like the Patriots with some strong TEs. I really don't think a new QB is the answer at this point.

IMHO Bringing in Holmgren was a huge mistake. I don't see that he did anything running the Seahawks that warranted him getting the Browns job.

I would agree and I would add CB to the mix since Sheldon Brown ain't no spring chicken. With two picks in Rd1 you have the option of picking Richardson, Blackmon or Claiborne early and if you don't pick Blackmon you could always try to get Floyd later if he is still available. There are also a number of good OT's in next years draft.

That being said...the Browns will probably draft a QB.

Just something to keep in mind - Matt Flynn is a free agent after this year.

I'm in favor of tossing a later round pick to the Pack in lieu of spending a 1st rounder on a rookie. Especially when that 1st rounder could get you your franchise WR & RB.

He's looked good to great in the time that he's had to play & nearly beat the Pats in their house.


edit: #2 CB is another priority. I'd like to think the Browns would might toss out some money in FA.

Although the pickings are rather slim. Grimes, Finnegan, Rodgers (Carlos) Aaron Ross (nickel?)

Safety is even worse. Which its a toss up between FS & OLB as the next pressing need. I'd lean more towards OLB myself.

Totally agree especially regarding the comment about Holmgren. He sure as hell didn't do much for Seattle in his last couple of years.

I would not waste a draft pick on a QB. I think if we would fill the holes on offense and get a couple guys in the free-agent market we could shore up the team so at least there would be respectable. I think Peyton is gone and I would grab Richardson unless Blackmon was still there when the Browns pick.

Here are the past 3 years of draft picks for the Browns

WR picks -
Greg Little 2nd Round
Mohamed Massaquoi 2nd Round
Brian Robiskie 2nd Round


RB picks -
Montario Hardesty 2nd Round

Out of those 4 WR/RB picks none of those have really helped the team much. I think a QB will help this team more than another WR or RB. The Lions started winning after Stafford started playing well, not after they picked Calvin Johnson and Mike Williams.

I say go for a QB if you have the chance, otherwise go for a OL or DL. Plus do you think Colt can make good use out of a Julio Jones type of playmaker? Can he get 30 yd passes to him consistently?

I really don't think you needed to remind anyone about those picks:(and I think Stafford might be having the same issues as Colt if he did not have Calvin Johnson or Williams.

I know one thing you did not take a offense or defensive lineman with the fourth pick. If you're going to do that, trade down but that's not what the Browns need. They need help.
