Look at the guy's college stats...it's hardly a surprise he struggles to average three yards a carry:Bucklion;2019014; said:Hey, Hardesty had 95 yards...on 33 carries. If we give it to him 60 times a game, he's liable to get 200 yards once it a while

Blech.
I could not believe he was drafted as high as he was...and can't even more now.

You don't move up picks for a mid round running back with average talent and injury history. I was pissed then - really nothing much has happened to change that.
Shit, put in Obonnaya (spell check) he runs hard, appears to catch the ball quite well. Being under Shurmur once before I'm sure he'll pick up the schemes and protections quite fast.
No fucking Demarco Murray :( I would honestly love to either sit in or be apart of just ONE of these drafts. We gave up picks in 2007' that would have been GOLD MINES in the 08 draft, for brady Fucking quinn. We didn't even have a 2nd round pick. The same round Ray Rice, Desean Jackson, Matt Forte, Jordy Nelson & Brandon Flowers were drafted in.
It is honestly sad, looking back, how terrible the Browns have done drafting save for Thomas, and the past 2 seasons under Holmgren/Heckart.
Holy fuck I forgot we didn't even have a 3rd round pick in 08. Great names in the 3rd round - Jamaal Charles, Jacob Hester, Jermichael Finley, Cliff Avril, Mario Manningham & Thomas DeCoud.
Just...fuck this franchise.
Yeah, it's well known, but still wasn't a good reason to move up for him. Hell, he blew out his knee again in his first camp here. Bad teams or not, 4.3 ypc over a college career is not good...and I've seen nothing from him to indicate he'll be anything more than a serviceable 3rd back in the NFL. Just a bad pick. The problem is, overall, the RB situation is a mess because it appears likely Hillis' time in Cleveland is winding down, and Hardesty isn't the answer. Maybe (hopefully) they can find somebody next April. I just hope they don't feel the need to justify that Hardesty move by continuing to play him if he continues to suck ass past this season.tsteele316;2019104; said:not for nothing, but those tennessee teams were absolutely terrible, and he was recovering from a major knee injury in the middle. besides, it's pretty well known that if cleveland didn't move up for him, new england was going to pounce on him 3 picks later.
That's a very flimsy 3-3...the wins are against winless Indy, Miami, and a terrible Seattle team. I figured 7-9 coming into the season, and think there's a shot they get there, but they've benefitted by playing some truly horrific teams thus far.y0yoyoin;2019185; said:everyone in here that is getting a huge boner for demarco murray....he was playing the rams...the week before he had 10 carries for 32 yards...week before this hardesty had 11 carries for 35 yards...i think hardesty can be good if given the chance...is he our feature back for the future? most likely no...but he is deffinitly serviceable if he stays healthy...the browns have drafted well since heckert and holmgren have come to town...anyone who thinks different is kidding themselves...we are .500 right now...we won 5 games last year...i believed before the year we would win 6-7 games...we are on pace for that, and would be close to that if we wouldnt of lost to cinci...its hard to judge this team on a game by game basis because one game you will think we are heading in the right direction and the next game you will want to wipe out the entire front office...i still think mccoy is not the answer and neither is hillis...hillis we can actually get something for and i still think in this offseason we should explore that unless hillis smartens up and takes a 1-3 year deal for less money

Same here. I can't imagine a scenario where Murray puts up 1/3 of that kind of game on this Browns team. You also have to be really careful on judging a RB on one game. If we did that Timmy Smith would be in the HOF. If some of you younger fans don't know who Timmy Smith is...exactly. Look him up.jlb1705;2019204; said:Agreed (in a sense) on the relative value of Murray to the Browns. (Can't speak for the boners - I would honestly have no idea about other dudes' boners.)
To play the "what if" game with any players the Browns miss out on in the draft, you have to suspend belief in the Browns ability to turn diamonds into dog [Mark May]. I'm not capable of doing that it seems.

That's fair, but Hardesty hasn't exactly wowed this season before Seattle. He looked pretty decent at times against Miami, but he's been very underwhelming overall.tsteele316;2019222; said:as a nice comparison, here's what Seattle has given up on the ground this year to starting rb's:
Week 1: Frank Gore - 22/59, 2.7 avg
Week 2: Mendenhall - 19/66, 3.5 avg
Week 3: A. Smith - 17/54, 3.2 avg
Week 4: M. Turner - 26/70, 2.7 avg
Week 5: A. Bradshaw - 17/58, 3.4 avg
Week 6: BYE
Week 7: M. Hardesty - 33/95, 2.9 avg
So, unless Frank Gore and Michael Turner have become total bums, Hardesty's day was basically in line with what other guys did. Given that cleveland can't pass or block on offense, maybe it wasn't that bad.
