Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

DE and WR (Hankerson!...or Little) and I'm happy today.

Edit- OK, what am I missing on Hankerson? Seems like he's just completely gone missing in a lot of analysis. Apparently he drops some easy ones? I don't know, I like the measurables and stats. Oh well, I'll take any DE combination (Reed/Bowers) and a WR (Cobb, Little, Hankerson, Titus Young?).

From the above article...

Late in the draft process, a rumor surfaced that Taylor had an unusual foot condition in which bones were growing together. But X-rays dispelled the rumor and he was given a clean bill of health.

"Just rumors, that's all it was," he said. "A couple of teams later [in the draft] threw some things out there so they might be able to get me."

Heckert said, "It's no issue whatsoever."

For anyone that's pissed about the Browns first round just think how much more pissed you'd be if you were a Carolina, Tennessee, Minnesota, or maybe Jacksonville fan. IMO at least 3 of those 4 QB's are going to be busts with the Vikings being the biggest full retard in the room.

If they can get Bowers in the 2nd, I'll be pacified. I know he's a risk, but the potential ceiling there outweighs the knee in my mind.

My issue with trading up and taking Taylor is that it was widely know the Vikes and Detroit were looking to trade at 12 and 13...why not move up and get a possible impact pass rusher in Quinn, then grab a DT with that early second? Now you're left having to plug one of your major holes with a boom or bust pick in Bowers if he's even there. Also, you now have to wait even longer to get WR help...or vice-versa if they go WR first.

I will admit, I was down on Ward last year and he proved me wrong. But I was also livid with the Hardesty pick and right now that pick isn't looking so hot. I know H & H have good track records, but I'm an extremely jasded browns fan and I just believe stupidity is a virus in Berea.

I'm not ready to pass judgement until I see the whole thing, but it's not off to a strong start in my mind.

I need to forget that Minnesota & Detroit were looking to trade down and a perfect spot for the Browns to trade up. And really, that was my only beef, not trading back up far enough to get a better player. I don't mind the Taylor pick, I can see what they are trying to do. I just don't see a difference between Taylor, Wilkerson, and the other DTs they could have grabbed if they waited til 27.

Cuz with that 3rd round pick...

NO MORE 2ND ROUND WRS!!!!!!!! Nothing against those guys, but I am getting sick and tired of the Browns using 2nd round picks to grab WRs. Wish is why I am pissed they gave up the 3rd round pick, cuz it would be nice to have a 3rd round WR pick versus a 2nd round WR for once.

I don't want to upset my guy Yoyoin, but I think our GM in the BP mock draft is off to a better start than Heckert.

hah! yah von miller would be nice but i like two second rounders also...bottom line this will be a wait and see draft for the browns...whenever you dont get a immediate impact player its going to be like that...tsteele said it best with replace taylors name with ward last year and you have the same argument in this forum

here is evan silva from profootball talks mock for the browns second round

http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/37841/60/second-round-nfl-mock

37. Browns: Da'Quan Bowers, defensive end, Clemson.

The Browns have two massive cloggers inside, having paired No. 21 pick Phil Taylor with 330-pounder Ahtyba Rubin. Cleveland remains desperate for defensive playmakers, and Bowers has reportedly passed the team's medical checks.

59: Browns: Greg Little, wide receiver, North Carolina.

Little draws comparisons to Brandon Marshall and Anquan Boldin for his physical, run-after-catch skills. The Browns need to get weapons or he'll have no chance to establish himself as a franchise quarterback. Little is a picturesque fit for Pat Shurmur's West Coast offense.

of note hankerson was picked at #61 in the second round according to his mock...i like all 3 in cobb, little and hankerson...but i think of the 3 hankerson is the better fit...6'3 and runs a 4.40 forty...massaqoui can be the possession receiver and hankerson will stretch the field

if we got hankerson i would line up massaqoui in the slot in 3 receiver sets with robo or cribbs on the outside...in 2 receiver sets i would have it be massaqoui and hankerson/robo/cribbs....massaqoui is our best receiver and most consistent...if we have anything close to joe jurevicius on this team it is him....now if we draft cobb or titus young then they will be our slot receiver i think

I think a DL of Bowers, Rubin, Taylor, and Roth would be a lot better than the Browns have had in the past. I would love to see them invite Quinn Pitcock to camp and add a couple more DL in FA. Gholston would probably be a good get at end since his value has bottomed out and he would be a better fit in the 4-3.

That's what I'm talking about Vernon comes to Cleveland and it has an opposite effect. A fresh new start in a D-scheme in which he can play.

Can we hope to say, "Comeback Player of the Year" :oh:

dude i thought you were done with the browns....of course you arent....anyways i wont defend us trading up to get taylor but i will defend the browns need for another NT, who is the best NT in the draft according to kiper, peter king and others to go along side Rubin since Shaun Rodgers is clearly gone...he has no pass rush, yes, but he is drafted to stop the run....the foot pain was a rumor which you obviously didnt see was refuted over and over...no impressive game film? thats cool, alot of great NFL players had the same non-impressive game film...he may have some conditioning and work ethic issues but those are minor and can easily be cleared up...you have the right to your own opinion about the browns draft but im getting tired of your constant bashing of everything the browns do...if you dont care for the browns and say your done then [censored]ing be done...its getting annoying

i can have my own [censored]ing opinion. and its an opinion shared by the majority. deal with it.

as far as the "constant bashing of everything the browns do"

I am pretty sure the Browns have treated the draft like freaking idiots for the past ten years. Yes I do not have faith in them yet. A couple good picks last year is the right start, but that hardly makes up for the absolute retard mode they have operated in the last 10 years.

wow^^^^^

Anyways, I like the pick and the picks that we picked up in the trade down. I trust Heckert and Holmgren. Taylor is going to eat up space and ballcarriers while opening things up for the linebackers. And I'd love to see us get Bowers and his 15 sacks at 37.

That would turn a weakness to a strength on the D lin. I'd like to see us then pick up a receiver, linebacker, corner, and tackle in subsequent rounds.

I like the direction the Browns are going in and it's great to have a competent front office.

I don't understand how you can lump the new regime in with the old regimes, when all the new group has done has given reason for optimism.

They drafted three starters last year. And at least two of them look like above average/potential pro-bowl players.
