Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

Really deep draft for pass-rushers. I really don't think this is as bad as you guys are making it sound, and I'd go as far as saying I like the pick. Having a big space eater like that in a 4-3 can cause a lot of problems for the offensive line in pass and run coverage.

If this draft is the reason people are "done with this team" - then I question...where the hell have you guys been for the last 12 years?

edit: and as other have said, last years Haden/Ward selections had people throwing shit against the wall and look at how that turned out?

Could be. Or, maybe they saw him and thought to themselves that he's the kind of guy that a smart team like the Ratbirds, Eagles or Saints would quietly pick and turn into the bedrock of their interior defense for 8-10 years to come. After going apeshit over TJ Ward last year, I'm going to wait to judge this one.

Considering all of the great moves to move up and actually make a good pick I won't wait. Hardesty, Quinn etc

Just like what we have watched in the draft the last 10 years, we will look back at this and scratch our heads.

Rather have a bust at 21 than at 6. It's not like one player is going to save or break the team anyways. They can still have a solid draft, even if Taylor ends up being worthless. I personally think Holmgren knows more about football and the players than any of us here.

I should probably follow suit. I think as Browns fan, my impatience is getting worse by the year.

Ward proved me wrong. Hoping Hardesty can take a few carries a game and redeem that pick. Love where Haden's going. Who knows, Colt could be the steal of them all.

Speaking of last year's draft... I bet part of the reason the Browns moved up was because they regret waiting on Corey Peters to fall to their spot in the 3rd last year.

With that in mind, would you rather have Corey Peters and the 27th pick this year, or Colt McCoy & Phil Taylor? Without knowing a damn thing about Taylor, I know which option I'd choose.

A team desperate for playmakers traded way down, then up for a stay at home nose tackle with endurance issues and an inoperable foot problem in both feet that will test his pain tolerance.

I am thrilled.

This team can't afford any more colossal busts. Thus, taking a reach at 21/27 is better than a reach at 6, given that Bowers anf Fairley and Quinn, the most likely choices, all had huge question marks. Personally I was crying (OK, figuratively I mean) that we lost out on Peterson like we did Berry last year, and honestly I would have preferred to trade with a team like Minnesota and get the Prince, but since they traded way down, they were not looking corner at all. I am kinda scratching my head at the NG at the 4-3, and even the guys on set had no clue, but really the Alex Mack pick worked out really well, so I'm willing to give it a chance.

I didn't mind the trade at all, we now have 2 2nd rounders this year, 2 1st rounders next year, and a gaggle of 4th rounders, so giving up the third wasn't a huge problem.

WTF did Baltimore just do? They passed????
