Cleveland Browns (2011 season)

Ahhhh, draft day. For some reason this year I really don't care who they pick. They almost CAN'T screw this up. Alot of impact type players at positions of need. As long as they don't pick a QB, how could they screw this up?

Of course that is the kiss of death meaning they will find a way to screw it up. But it is unlikely.

And now for my predictions for this draft class:

I like Jones over Green (Jones just reminds me of TO from his San Fran days, the perfect west coast WR) Green will be a good WR, but I think Jones will be special in a west coast offense.

I think Quinn will be the best DE in this class.

Fairley will be a monumental bust, best case he is a smaller Shaun Rogers. But I doubt he will care as much as Shaun did.

All of these QBs suck. Dalton will probably be the best one at the end of the day, and that will be just an average NFL QB/game manager type QB.

The Browns will make a move, I like their thinking of trading up with the Vikings at 12 to get a 2nd top 12 player is genius. My dream would be to pick Quinn at #6 and then see Jones drop to #12 and snag him there.

But I also see them dropping a few spots. I would say as long as they stay in the Top 10/12 they can still get the guy they wanted at #6 whoever that is (or at least a guy they could have draft at #6 and still be 'worth it')

I don't understand trading up for Phil Taylor. I was sure they were going to take Bowers. Might want to get him down to 310 to play in the 4-3.

Heck, I was thinking Cam Jordan.

But at this point they should have just waited til 27,but then again they only gave up a 3rd rounder.

Now they better not fuck up their 2nd round picks

Browns traded up with the Chiefs to select Baylor NT Phil Taylor with the No. 21 overall pick in the draft.

You might've heard Jon Gruden call Taylor "explosive" on the ESPN broadcast. Pass rushing isn't Taylor's game, however, as he only had 2.5 sacks as a junior and senior combined. Along with Ahtyba Rubin, Cleveland's apparent plan is to field a pair of "two-gap" tackles on the defensive interior in order for LBs D'Qwell Jackson and Chris Gocong to make plays without blockers on them. The Browns still have major needs in the pass-rushing department. Not to mention at wideout.

That being said, I don't entirely hate the pick. Just thought it was dumb to move up for him. Wouldn't have been surprised if he would've been available as the 5th pick in the 2nd.

Could be. Or, maybe they saw him and thought to themselves that he's the kind of guy that a smart team like the Ratbirds, Eagles or Saints would quietly pick and turn into the bedrock of their interior defense for 8-10 years to come. After going apeshit over TJ Ward last year, I'm going to wait to judge this one.
