Garbage time players who showed me something; Marcus Bernard (LB), Jason Trusnik (LB), James Davis (RB), and an OT we picked up from the Bengals, #74, name started with a K?
I don't think I would call Bernard or Trusnik garbage time players. Both of them played some very good minutes at the end of last season and while they might not be starters they are pretty good backup players.

I was referring to what time in the game they made their appearance. I'm hoping they are rotated in games along with the starters. Another guy I think showed promise is Cliff Geathers, strong as an ox for a rookie.:)

PD
* The entire two-deep on the right side of the offensive line was missing -- guards Shawn Lauvao and Floyd Womack and tackles John St. Clair and Tony Pashos. Working with the first unit were Billy Yates at guard and Scott Kooistra at tackle. Coach Eric Mangini said Lauvao has been excused for the rest of the week for personal reasons and "may or may not" be available Saturday against St. Louis.
* I feel you're going to be hearing more about linebacker Marcus Benard this year. He joined the starting unit, with Scott Fujita moving inside with Chris Gocong and Matt Roth manning the other outside post. Benard is really growing on the coaches in his second season.

* Rookie quarterback Colt McCoy was back on the field after missing Monday with a sprained thumb. He was surprisingly upbeat after looking down on Monday. He told me it was the first practice he ever missed. Ever.

Zastudil won the Buffalo game for us last year. He's actually a much bigger loss than some might think.
I realize that but the Browns seem content with the backup punter Hodges. They are going to have to go out and look for someone else if not to assume the starting role but at least to backup Hodges.

I guess that means Zastudil cost us Eric Berry. Fuck him.

:tongue2:

Asshole should have his foot hit with an axe like that peckermuffin Jacksonville punter for that... :slappy:

In all seriousness, Hodges seems OK, but he seems pretty robotic to me.

Eh, obviously they aren't going to have 2 punters on the roster.

Basically if someone they like gets released, they might grab them...probably aren't a lot of better FA's out there at the moment, or they'd have them already.

Interesting thread on the Brown's Scout board. If anyone watched the game
the receiver their are talking about looked pretty good in his 2 or 3 plays he was in. On one play he blocked a GB line backer down field, and knocked the shit out of him!

Some good news

R.I.P. brown pants: Mangini confirmed after practice that he has retired the team?s brown pants look. ?It wasn?t very well-received,? he laughed. When told that uniforms are quite a hot button issue with fans, the coach said, ?I hope we can get to the point where we can wear fruit on our heads and people wouldn?t notice.?
:biggrin::biggrin:
and some bad
BEREA, Ohio -- Rookie running back Montario Hardesty, slated for a featured role this season, won't make it onto the practice field this week as hoped, meaning he will have missed all of training camp with his twisted right knee.

Camp ends on Thursday with the final two-a-day.
