Haden is a slow, small CB rated to go #17 or lower. Way to reach Browns. :shake:

It could have been Jimmy Clausen, AKA Brady Quinn and you're that disappointed?? Really?? Thought it was a good pick, and he only slid b/c of a poor 40...an awful indicator of NFL success. I'd hate to break out the list of great NFL players who ran piss-poor 40's. The list is too long to mention.....

Joe Haden is not a bad pick at all. Browns have a ton of holes everywhere and Haden could be a good player for a long time. Don't forget Mike Furrey a WR was playing safety and nickel back last year for the Browns, thats how bad their DB's were that they had to bring a Wr over to play.

Ans Browns fans used to think Brandon McDonald was a legit #2 CB in the league

About as awesome as when Browns fans though Charlie Frye could be a great QB and Jerome Harrison will now be a pro-bowl RB.

On top of mediocre workouts including the shuttle etc etc.

Philly traded up to what? 13th? We could have traded down to San Fran, grabbed Earl Thomas, maybe an additional 2nd rounder and still have gotten a very solid corner in the 2nd round. So I hope we bundle a pick or two, grab McCoy in the 2nd and Nate Allen because we need safety help.

That said, i'm with JC - I think we just made Haden the highest paid nickel back in the league. Good news is this gets McDonald out of the rotation.

The same McDonald almost all Browns fans saying was a steal a few years ago?? Dude has never been that great, but people lined up to Savage and McDonald like they were solid.

Earl Thomas has great character, but he's undersized as a safety and doesn't tackle that well. I like him as a person a lot so I don't like ripping him hard, but he's a reach as a safety anywhere in the first round. I'm not joking, I think Kurt Coleman can easily be as productive as Earl. Kurt is a much better tackler, as good in coverage, but not as fast. I'll take the better football player honestly. I think Kurt is the better football player...he doesn't get the press b/c he can't run a sub 4.5.

First off....the NFL is transitioning like the college game to more 3 wide-out formations so a good nickel is definately needed. I would not be surpirsed to see Haden play Nickel thi syear and move into the corner position in a year or two and slide Wright to the #2. The good news is we now have an explosive corner who isn't afraid to make a tackle like Wright or McDonald. Maybe Brown can move to safety as some expect...if he does, hopefully he can make some tackles and be physical like a typical safety is.

OK, let's talk second round.

I still want McCoy. Do people think he'll still be there? It seems reasonable to expect that most of the other teams near the top of the second round will not be looking for a QB there. I think Minnesota might take a QB, and Buffalo could package some picks to move up ahead of Cleveland.

I hope the Vikings aren't thinking of taking McCoy.

Hopefully Brad Childress likes Jimmah more than Holmgren.

Good thing about McCoy to the Browns is that Clausen is still there.

Although with Clausen falling this far, I'm concerned that many teams have McCoy rated higher. I think the Browns should move up if they want McCoy.
