Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Instead of trotting out Felix Jones, Mark Sanchez, Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards they have Jamal Lewis, DA/BQ, no one and Chansi Stuckey. Wouldn't be Air Coryell II but not a train wreck, either.

Joe Thomas, Josh Cribbs and Jerome Harrison have been good personnel moves, but not much else. And the urgency to sign Mangini when no one else wanted him was bizarre.

Don't see a quick fix on the horizon.

this organization is the reason why average fans think they can run an organization....complete ineptitude.

At least if you call the Raiders out, there's a chance Tom Cable might come choke a bitch, ya know??....I'm locking my doors tonight.

I cannot believe what is happening up in Cleveland. George Kokinis is now fired and Randy Lerner is possibly looking to hire Ernie Accorsi as the G.M.
It has been reported that he is even thinking about getting Bernie Kosar
involved in the mix. Wow.............. how about that. I said this 4 years ago that Bernie would be a good general manager but i was laughed at pretty good. Maybe i will have the last laugh:wink2::wink2:

I don't know where to begin with the issues this "outfit" has but it is septic whatever it is. This outfit makes the Reds look like World Series material in the baseball world.

While I don't think the Kokinis and Mangini hires were that terrible, they were not the CORRECT hires for this franchise. It's like putting new captains on a sinking ship. This team was going to be bad no matter who you brought in to coach and GM.

I would bet that three-quarters of us on this board could put a competitive team on the field at an a fraction of the salary that Lerner is paying Kokinis and Mangini. The bottom line is if we had an owner down to the coaches that loved the Cleveland Browns, (look at Pittsburgh and New England for example.) we could have a great team. We have a base to build off of but its going to take about another three-five years to get to where we can compete. Of course everyone must buy into the rebuilding process.

I don't get why the fired him already????

Listening to WTAM this morning there was a report the firing was for 'just cause' whatever that means. Did he stop giving Mangini reach arounds?

But my thought is Kokinis heard about Lerner's remarks about wanting another layer of management. Kokinis probably said some choice words, or was not on board with having a new boss. And got kicked out.

Kosar for GM? Actually I prefer him in the president role as the spokesman of the franchise. But if Kosar is going to be the GM, we need Accorsi here just to teach him the ropes. Cause we all know the Browns need another GM with NO GM experience.

I was reading Bud Shaw's take on this last night. He speculated that this move was made so Lerner could bring in a GM that could actually exert some control over Mangini.

While this is certainly a bozo move by the Browns, I think now that in any change scenario, Kokinis needed to go. He was clearly a yes-man for Mangini when you do hire a new coach you'd still be stuck with an impotent GM. My problem with this move is that Mangini didn't get the axe too. What do you accomplish by keeping him around? Continuity? Shit, there's already continuity - this team has continuously sucked for a solid decade now. The Browns need the opposite of continuity. What's the worst that can happen at this point? It's not as if the football would get any worse? I'm sure there'd be rejoicing in the locker room after some of the dick moves he's pulled in his short time here.
