Cleveland Browns (2008 Season)

LitlBuck;1104741; said:
We are miscommunicating I think. Williams had the franchise tag put on him for this year for all round $6.1 mil. The Browns trade for him and I guess he will have to sign a contract with the Browns. What determines what draft choice the Browns have to give Green Bay? The amount that the Browns sign him for or something else. What would happen if the Browns cannot sign him. Is this trade a done deal?
:stupid:
Well I have to write Gene Upshaw to get my answer:biggrin:
My understanding is that it is a 6 year 38 million dollar contract and that he is in Cleveland now.....my guess what be he is there to pass a physical and sign on the dotted line.

DA's performance in Cincy cost the Browns a playoff spot. I was at that game and it wasn't that windy inside the stadium. Even if you want to argue about the conditions, I'll say the majority of his interceptions were caused by bad decisions and inaccurate throws.
I wasn't at the game in Cinci, but comparing the performance of the two passers Carson Palmer and DA on that day with their Week 2 game, something happened.

Week 2 Bengals at Browns;

C.Palmer 33 of 50, 401yds. 6tds 2 ints 113.4 pass eff. rating

Anderson 20 of 33 328yds 5tds 1 int. 121 pass eff. rating

Week 16 Browns at Bengals

C.P. 11 of 21 115 yards 1 td 2 int. 44.8 eff. rating (Lowest of his season)

D.A. 29 of 48 251 yards 2 td 4 int. 53.4 eff. rating (lowest of his season)

I wasn't on the field but can only surmise with the Browns staff that the late season drop in performance level of DA were weather related or defenses catching up with offensive schemes.

The Browns are another shining example of a sham of Cleveland pro franchises scamming the hard working people of NE Ohio betting on the come.

Every pro franchise in every other city eventually spends the dollars to provide the carrot. Not any of Clevelands despicable owners are going to part with one red cent, but they will gladly take yours in order to keep you waiting for next year and do it to you again!

You think the owners of all these teams got to where they are by being completely inept.

I don't even live there but they did it to me for 40 years.

It would be foolish to go with the Bengals Defense getting good -

that leaves option number one.

I'd say it was mostly weather-related but maybe he was also showing his YOUTH. It was Anderson's first go round in a playoff atmosphere and he came up short. He's a young guy, and is basically coming off of a rookie season.

Maybe we should just get C.C. Sabathia's ass out of town since he had a bad post-season. He must not be talanted either.

What the hell are you talking about? Phil Savage is one of the best GM's and they are very active in FA and spending money. Having some idea what you're talking about will help you in the future...

What am I talking about...not a damn thing the proof is in the pudding. So I am truly the one who knows what's really going.

Sticking up for the best POS's in the land won't change a thing.

Besides, Savage isn't an owner but a pawn.

seems to be some clamoring going on in other boards that the Browns are going to be announcing something significant tonight... was supposed to happen about 6 pm but has been delayed... stay tuned...

Might have something to do with the news that DA's first payment not being due until April. That gives the Browns room to trade him without the Cap hit. Will be interesting to see what happens.

BTW, saw that Drew Carter may visit the Browns on Sunday. He could be a solid 2nd or 3rd WR.

Interesting post... seems to be some confusion about cap impact... others are saying we get hit with cap ($6M or $8M) regardless if he's traded right now or not

Shaun Rogers to Bengals may have fallen thru

but seems Shaun may have been on his way to Cinci
but only got halfway
which could mean you're looking at a front line of
Wimbley-Williams-Rogers

we may not see a draft pick till round four
but we have certainly upgraded the d-line... BIG
